In the light of the 12th Phase of inauguration/groundbreaking of industrial projects, on 23rd July Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha did the inauguration of 3 industrial projects and groundbreaking of 11 industrial units.
“Odisha is speedily emerging as the Manufacturing Hub of Eastern India.” My government’s stable policy and regulatory environment have enabled the growth of industries in the state,” said Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, inaugurating three industrial projects worth Rs 493.96 cr and the groundbreaking of the industrial units with an investment of Rs 1100.14 cr. These both are missioned to generate employment opportunities for over 3773 people in the state.

Highlighting what has been achieved so far, he further said, “The implementation of ease of doing business reforms and facilitation provided by the various departments have ensured the business continues to grow in the state. Our industries are actively collaborating with the government, not only for the economic development but for the sake of social responsibilities which they have.”
“During the peak of the second wave, Odisha ceaselessly strove to support the other states in supplying oxygen, tankers, generators, and the other medical accessories,” he added further, thanking industries for their contribution in the second wave.
As revealed in the inauguration ceremony, Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd is coming up with a Solar Power Plant worth Rs. 352 Crore generating employment for around 80 people. Runaya Refining LLP is setting up an Aluminium Dross Refining Unit at Banjari. With an investment plan of Rs 64 crore, it will generate employment for 175 persons. Also, Wild Lotus Fashions is coming up to establish a Garment Manufacturing unit at Chhatabar with employment opportunities for over 783 persons.
The event was attended and participated by various dignitaries from the industries and State Government including Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister of Energy Industries & MSMEs, Odisha, Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Chief Secretary, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries, Dr Krishnan Kumar, CMD IDCO, Shri Satyabrat Sahu, Principal Secretary, MSMEs, Shri B. S. Poonia, MD, IPICOL.
Besides the above, prospective companies for the groundbreaking ceremony were IFFCO, which is going for an ambitious Sulphuric Acid Expansion Project at Paradip, with an annual capacity of 6,60,000 MT which cost Rs 400 crore investment. It will give employment to 21 persons. Then, there is an Iron Ore Beneficiation Plant and Pellet Plant by KAI International against an investment of Rs 265.72 crore generating employment for 475 persons.

As far as the manufacturing sector is considered, which is being flourished under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission, there is a manufacturing unit for the production of plastic pipes, PVC water storage tanks, and allied plastic products worth Rs 151.30 crore giving employment to over 320 persons. Also, an expansion project of Britannia Industries Ltd has been unveiled to set up food processing units in Khordha against an investment of Rs 93.60 crore giving employment potential for 350 persons.
Another spotlight is the footwear manufacturing unit at Khordha by Niren Kumar Anand, owner of EVER Brand Shoes. Its investment is worth Rs 62.44 crore which will generate employment opportunities for 620 persons. Also, an HDPE and thermoplastic pipes manufacturing unit are going to be a part of Odisha’s Industrial revolution with an investment of Rs 60. 06 crore and an employment scale to 550 persons.
There are Food processing units and Cold Storage facilities by Bharat Spices at Ramdaspur, Cuttack with an investment of Rs 50.10 crore and employment for 550 persons. Also, there is an Offset printing and Book Binding unit at Jaymangal, Khordha by Printtech Offset Pvt Ltd with an investment worth Rs 6.74 crore and employment to 64 persons will also support the state’s industrial development plan.

Furthermore, there is a Biomedical Waste Management Plant at Choudwar, Cuttack by Renewable Envirogic (p) Ltd. whose investment is worth Rs 5.33 crore and will generate employment for 102 people. At the same place, for an eco-friendly Agricultural development plan, there is an Organic Fertilizers&Manure processing unit by Arnab Care & Food with an investment worth Rs 2.20 crore and employment for 34 people.
In addition, for turning food processing ‘Atmanirbhar,’ Pratishtha Ventures, with an investment of 2.65 cr in setting up a Food Processing Unit for Noodles, Papad, and Pickles at Choudwar, Cuttack. This will give employment opportunities to about 49 people. Leading the sprint of inauguration/ groundbreaking ceremony in terms of investment capital, Jagatsinghpur project by IFFCO is at first place with Rs 400 crore, followed by Bolangir, with Rs 352 crore, Cuttack, with 271.64 cr and Khordha, with 182.78 cr.
Since November 2017, 195 projects have been inaugurated with a grand investment of Rs 92, 460.84 cr and over 1,18,211 people have been employed. The prompt response to the upsurge in industrial development and persistent efforts to synergize the market segmentation of the industries is helping Odisha to uphill the development plans to emerge as the manufacturing hub of eastern India.
