VIT looks to collaborate and engage with industries at MMTS 2019

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology popularly known as VIT Pune, a highly commendable educational institute, established in the year 1983 is run by Bansilal Ramnath Agrawal Charitable Trust. The institute is participating in MMTS 2019 at Chennai with a mission to initiate collaborative and continuous engagement with the industry, benefiting their students. Machine Maker spoke to Dr. Ganesh DongreDean (R & D) at VIT, understanding their objective of participating at the flagship event of GDC Tech Forum.

VIT is one of the leading autonomous institutes permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. Being a regular participant at MMTS, Dr. Dongre is looking forward to getting more opportunities to work with leading industries empowering their R& D activities. “VIT students can get a lot of exposure in the form of guest lectures by industry leaders, a visit to their factory and internship opportunities for students to get in-hand experience”, shares Dr. Dongre.

VIT is looking forward to more meaningful associations with industry, where their students can work and gain hands-on experience along with their academic classes. The students can be rewarded for the best white papers/ innovative ideas they applied during their association with industries during events like Technology Day organized by the VIT, informed Dr. Dongre.

We have established a Research Forum, which consists of faculty actively pursuing research. The forum has a well-established mechanism through which all R&D activities are promoted, encouraged and appraised

The industry interaction at MMTS can also benefit the VIT by providing possible job opportunities to their students, arranging sponsorship of academic fees for merit children below the poverty line. These interactions can bring solutions to challenging situations and create college clusters where technical students can interact with industry professionals and gain knowledge.

VIT has various branches like Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, where they learn about manufacturing processes and its applications. Students and faculty at VIT can contribute jointly for various activities like research projects, improvements in existing processes and training, which can be a help to industries in their manufacturing process.

VIT is doing significant innovations in the Teaching-Learning process using Academic Autonomy at the same time the faculties are also active in evolving the research culture at the institute.  “Expansion of the research and consultancy activities is required for enhancing the impact and reputation of the Institute”, concludes Dr. Ganesh Dongre.
