MMTS, the mega technical conference, and exhibitions organized by GDC Tech Forum in association with Arkey Conference Cell, is scheduled at the end of November 2019 at the Chennai Trade Centre. Under the umbrella, MMTS consists of three events – GDC Tech 2019 (the flagship annual event of the Forum) along with LWT 2019 and MTS 2019.
Machine Maker had an exclusive interaction with Dr. Aniruddha Karve, Chairman of GDC Tech Forum and also the Managing Director of the Molten Metal Systems GBU of Morgan Advanced Materials. He is an expert in High-Pressure Die Casting and talks about organizing this year’s conference, three exhibitions, and the latest technologies and trends in aluminum die casting.
GDC Tech Forum in its annual event used to organize technical conferences, exhibitions and from last year added an innovative industry quiz program, which attracted several industries from the company level, region and finally at the national level. "Technical conferences are the backbone of our annual event", shares Dr. Karve. He adds "This year our focus is on Post Casting operations. Most of our members possess great expertise in foundry and casting operations. Through this event, we would like to bring more global exposure to the latest post-casting technologies and operations".
Most of them frequently encounter struggles in the post-casting operations where they don’t have the expertise to carry out the operations in a world-class manner. The members of the foundry industry can get benefitted from this event by having a good view of post-casting operations and can take advantage of some emerging technologies. Panel discussions are planned in different technologies related to the aluminum casting during the event.
The first-panel discussion will be centered on visionaries in the die casting fields like the ones who have started small but have grown into big ventures in the aluminum casting industry. The next two discussions will be focused on Technology – mostly on newly developed technologies – where the foundry members can take advantage of technological insights like Industry 4.0, IoT, Machine Technology, etc. The fourth panel will be focused on casting buyers, where they will review how the buyer community views the current state of the aluminum casting industry. These panel discussions will be a welcome addition to the normal agenda of the event.
GDC Tech Forum is taking the event to newer levels with the MMTS 2019 Exhibitions – three related events that allow the exhibitors to highlight their latest technologies in front of industry experts. “We are expecting more than 100 exhibitors from Aluminum Die Casting, Light Weight Technologies, and Testing and Measuring to showcase their latest innovations in the three-day expo” adds Dr. Karve.
We are taking adequate steps to ensure business visitors are informed about these innovations in advance so that the benefit can be achieved in both business perspectives of exhibitors and visitors.
The event will be composed of 3 conferences and exhibitions concurrently as they are all related topics. First being the GDC TECH Forum which is a platform for Great Die Castings, Second is about Light Weighting Technology (LWT). The main focus of LWT 2019 is in the transport sector. It will have technical and application-driven key areas and will showcase the latest developments in the industry. The third one being Measure & Test (M&T) which is a platform to showcase products, new developments and innovative ideas in the areas of measuring & testing instruments and equipment.
“Also, we have other activities going around during the event like the “Design Competition”, where the 3D design models will be shared with the participants that they are expected to come up with a casting model within 4 hours. Also, we have the “Best Project and Best Casting Competitions”, where we will highlight the top 5 projects and display the participating castings. The Quiz Competition is going to be an interesting session”, shares Dr. Karve. This Quiz competition is meant for shop-floor supervisors and will test their knowledge of basic foundry engineering and processes.
"Unlike the last year's quiz competition where the participation was limited to Maharashtra, this time we have expanded our reach and hence we are going to have a pan- India competition"
