Conation Technologies to Showcase Indigenous Lab Automation at MFE

Prashant Pachave - Director & Co-Founder of Conation Technology

Established in 2012, Conation Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has consistently emerged as one of India’s most trusted Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) specializing in advanced solutions for weld penetration analysis, technical cleanliness analysis, and metallurgical evaluation. Based in Pune, the company offers complete end-to-end solutions, from high-precision sample preparation machines and specialized microscopes to proprietary image analysis software tailored for detailed inspection and testing. With a focus on building homegrown technology that meets and even exceeds global standards, Conation Technologies proudly represents the spirit of Make in India by delivering sophisticated, reliable, and export-worthy instrumentation. The company’s solutions are widely adopted across automotive, electronics, defense, and research sectors, supporting critical quality control and compliance operations.

Conation Technologies was founded by Mr. Prashant Pachave along with three other co-founders, all of whom share a deep-rooted technical background and a passion for innovation. Prior to launching Conation, Mr. Pachave gained nearly a decade of industry experience in similar technological fields. Together, the founding team set out with a clear vision — to build world-class, import-substitute products that could rival international offerings in performance and reliability. From the beginning, Mr. Pachave took charge of the technical development of the company, overseeing the design and innovation of its core product line. Over the past 12 years, he has played a crucial role in driving Conation’s R&D, continuously upgrading the company’s offerings to meet the evolving demands of various high-end industries.

Conation’s inception was rooted in a bold vision to create indigenous alternatives to expensive imported systems while matching or exceeding global quality standards. The founding team—comprised of four highly skilled professionals—shared a common desire to design tools that addressed real, unmet needs in Indian manufacturing and R&D environments.

With over a decade of experience in the metallurgical and imaging domain prior to founding Conation, Mr. Prashant Pachave brought not only technical skill but also a strong understanding of customer pain points. His deep involvement in product development and innovation has been instrumental in shaping the company’s portfolio.

“Right from the start, I have been dedicated to building our technical development capabilities,  that remains my core responsibility today, ensuring that each product we release reflects excellence in performance, reliability, and user experience.” says Mr. Pachave.

While Mr. Pachave leads the product and technology roadmap, his co-founders independently lead manufacturing, software development, and business operations, ensuring focused execution across departments.

Conation’s flagship offering lies in its weld penetration analysis solutions, a complete set enables customers to prepare, image, and analyze weld cross-sections with precision.

These systems are deployed across India by quality control labs, automotive OEMs, and testing centers seeking precision and repeatability.

“We are proud to say that all our systems are Made in India,” Not just in terms of final assembly, but from R&D to manufacturing, every part of our solution is indigenously developed. And they are as robust and capable as any global brand.”shares Pachave.

This deep integration allows Conation to offer customized enhancements and dedicated after-sales support, further boosting its appeal among Indian manufacturers seeking reliable partners.

While Conation’s early success came from metallurgy and welding, the company soon recognized the growing significance of technical cleanliness—a crucial requirement in automotive, electronics, aerospace, and medical sectors.

Between 2012 and 2014, Conation began developing a new product line focused on contamination test analysis, leveraging the same core strengths in microscopy and software. Over time, these offerings evolved into complete labs for technical cleanliness, capable of detecting, imaging, and quantifying particle contamination on critical components.

“Technical cleanliness has gained tremendous traction over the past 5 to 7 years, it is now a quality and safety mandate for several high-precision industries, especially in the automotive and electronics sectors.” Mr pachave.

Conation adopted a full-stack approach—offering filtration units, particle extraction setups, microscopes, and software—all backed by in-house expertise.

This move has positioned the company as one of the few Indian OEMs to offer end-to-end solutions for both metallurgical and technical cleanliness labs, allowing clients to streamline procurement and ensure seamless integration.

Unlike many startups that rush to market, Conation dedicated its first decade almost exclusively to product development. Between 2012 and 2022, the company focused on perfecting its machines, validating accuracy across multiple applications, and building trust through pilot deployments.

This deliberate approach ensured that by the time Conation increased its marketing and exhibitions in 2023, its offerings were already field-proven and export-ready. Over the past 10 months alone, the company has participated in four major industrial exhibitions, including the prestigious Metal Forming Expo—marking its growing confidence in entering broader markets.

“We wanted our products to speak for themselves before we pushed them in the market,” shares Mr. Pachave.

Diverse Industry Exposure and a Culture of Learning

In its journey of over 12 years, Conation has collaborated with clients across a wide spectrum—from automotive OEMs to defense organizations, electronic component manufacturers, and research institutions such as DRDO and atomic energy labs.

This diverse exposure has not only validated Conation’s versatility but also inspired the team to develop new modules and features tailored to different industry needs. The company’s internal R&D frequently works on client-specific requirements, often pushing the boundaries of what’s technically feasible.

“Whether it’s analyzing welds for electric vehicles or ensuring particle cleanliness in aerospace components, we’re constantly evolving,” Our engagement with real-world challenges fuels innovation.” says Mr. Pachave.

Conation’s presence at the Auto EV Expo in Bangalore is a recent example of this forward-thinking approach. The team returned with fresh insights and ideas, particularly in the area of battery assembly and electronics cleanliness—segments that are poised for rapid growth.

Conation Technologies views the current industrial momentum in India as a huge opportunity. With the Indian government’s consistent push for Make in India, domestic OEMs are gaining visibility and trust like never before.

“The awareness among Indian customers has grown significantly,” Today, they are actively seeking Indian alternatives. We are no longer competing just on price, but on quality, customization, and service.” shares Mr. Pachave. At the recent Metal Forming Expo, the team expressed optimism about connecting with project consultants, quality heads, and automation engineers exploring advanced inspection technologies. With Pune becoming a hotspot for new industrial investments, Conation is keen on forging new relationships and exploring collaborations.

As Conation Technologies steps into its next phase of growth, the focus remains clear: to continue delivering state-of-the-art, microscopy-driven analysis tools while expanding into new domains such as EVs, electronics, and medical manufacturing.

With a robust team, clearly defined roles among the co-founders, and a growing customer base, the company is well-positioned to become a global name in lab automation and analysis.
