- Redefining the Way Six Sigma is taught, mastering through Project-Oriented Experiential Learning
Both Lean & Six Sigma have been around for more than two decades. While many organizations are generating millions of dollar savings, increasing their profit margins & add value to the customer using Lean Six Sigma, but for many, Lean Six Sigma is just a certificate or a title. You will not be surprised to see many Black Belts and Green Belts have not driven a single project and many with one project for their certification purpose. Our experience shows not more than 1% of the certified Black Belts have driven or mentored more than five serious Six Sigma projects. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a highly responsible position, and we have seen many organizations and individuals diluting it, which is very unfortunate, especially in the competitive world.
Six Sigma professionals should be an asset to the organization and help the organization generate value and increase the profit margins. Unfortunately, in most cases, the Six Sigma professionals are just one more employee with Black Belt or Green Belt’s title.
Let’s understand what the reason for the professionals’ failure to embrace Lean Six Sigma and be an asset to the organization. Like the way Six Sigma does, if we look at the root cause of the problem, we see quite a few reasons, but one of the prominent reasons is the way Six Sigma professionals are taught. Most of the time, the professionals and organization’s focus is on the certification they receive rather than the knowledge.
While Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a great certificate to have but without learning how to drive the project and without in-depth knowledge of the Six Sigma concepts, especially how to identify a project and use analysis tools, the certificate will be a mere paper.
Redefining the Way Six Sigma is Taught
We at Lean6SigmaPro are redefining the way Lean Six Sigma is taught. We help professionals to learn and master Lean Six Sigma concepts through Project-Oriented Experiential Learning. Through the Discovery phase, we help participants identify a list of the project at their workplace. The Discovery phase acts as the stepping stone of Six Sigma learning even before the routine Define Phase started. If the participant fails to identify a project at his workplace for various reasons, we help the participant with a case study.
A case study close to the real-life encompassing & explaining different business verticals’ functions with relevant data is shared with the participants & participants need to identify potential Lean Six Sigma projects. The participants have to understand the complete business scenario, identify a list of projects, and justify selecting it as a Lean Six Sigma project. One project is prioritized from the list of projects selected, followed by executing the project through the Define Measure Analyze Improve & Control phases of Six Sigma. The project is a practice tool to implement all the learnings received during the course.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt at Lean6SigmaPro is 80 Hours of training, of which 30+ hours is dedicated to learning the statistical tool. Black Belt is additional 60 Hours, of which 40+ hours is dedicated to mastering Statistical concepts. While the project focus is done right during the Green Belt training Black Belt is all about in-depth learning of the methodology and statistics. Each topic is covered in depth so that professionals understand the concepts entirely and are enabled to use the concept as a standalone topic.
While the focus is majorly on the gain of knowledge, the course is Accredited from TUV SUD and Exemplar Global (Member of ASQ family). Most importantly, the syllabus is aligned to all the certification bodies like ASQ, IASSC, ISI, KPMG & ISO standards. The syllabus of all the certification bodies is considered and created a superset of all the syllabus. While Lean6SigmaPro helps the participants receive either TUV SUD or Exemplar Global, the participants are free to choose the certification of their choice & the institute supports the participants to take up the certificate of their choice.
The essential aspect of Lean6SigmaPro is the trainers are current full-time consultants & working or mentoring Lean Six Sigma projects day in day. Each trainer has certified Master Black Belt coupled with a minimum of 200+ project experience & have saved $20MM+ savings to various organization across 6-8 industries. 200+ Project experience helps the professionals get their queries answered.
