Kazi Industries was established in 1981 by Mr. Kazi, father of Feeroz Kazi and a technocrat who initially started the business as a part-time venture near his home to generate additional income. The small unit focused on subcontracting and manufacturing small components for local industries. Feeroz Kazi, now the Managing Director, was only 12 years old when he began assisting his father after school, igniting his passion for technical work.
By 1983, Mr Feeroz had completed his SSC (10th standard) and pursued a diploma in mechanical engineering. His academic journey complemented his practical experience, allowing him to implement theoretical knowledge in the factory. After completing his diploma with a strong percentile, he pursued a degree in engineering, further strengthening the technical foundation of the company.
In the late 1980s, Kazi Industries made significant strides by investing in essential production equipment like center lathes and capstan lathes, crucial for enhancing manufacturing efficiency. However, in 1989, the Rajiv Gandhi government’s economic liberalization policy led to the de-licensing of domestic cylinder manufacturing, drastically impacting Kazi Industries’ parent company and causing a significant loss of business.
Despite this setback, the company pivoted by supplying small components to micro-industries, sustaining itself through perseverance and adaptability. Feeroz Kazi, after completing his graduation, sought industrial exposure through a placement at Bajaj Auto in Aurangabad. This one-year experience provided him with valuable insights into large-scale industrial operations, which he later applied to expand Kazi Industries.
In 1996, Kazi Industries made a strategic move by investing in CNC machines, marking a transition to advanced manufacturing. However, obtaining financial support was a significant hurdle, as banks demand collateral in the form of personal property rather than factory assets. Despite the high interest rates of 24%, the company persevered, working tirelessly for five years to repay its loans.
The pivotal moment for Kazi Industries came in 1999 when the company participated in a defense exhibition aimed at indigenizing ammunition components. Recognizing the opportunity, Feeroz Kazi led the company’s entry into defense manufacturing, securing contracts for gun carriage factories, ordnance factories, and R&D units in Pune. This breakthrough not only stabilized the business but also positioned Kazi Industries as a trusted supplier for critical defense applications.
By the early 2000s, Kazi Industries had expanded its operations, establishing a second facility in Shivne Industrial Estate, Pune. However, the government’s fluctuating defense budgets posed new challenges, prompting the company to explore international markets.
Seeking global opportunities, Kazi Industries participated in international exhibitions in Germany and the UK, facilitated by the Indian government. Although the initial efforts did not yield immediate business, they provided valuable market exposure. The company leveraged digital marketing and export data to identify potential buyers, gradually establishing a strong international clientele. Over the past decade, Kazi Industries has successfully built relationships with four to five key international buyers, solidifying its presence in the global market.
Today, Kazi Industries operates with 50 advanced machines and a workforce of 30 skilled professionals. The company supplies precision components to leading aerospace and defense organizations, including Godrej Aerospace and Bharat Electronics. With a current turnover of INR 7–8 crore, Kazi Industries is now setting its sights on a bold expansion plan.

By 2030, the company aims to achieve a turnover of INR 50 crore. This ambitious growth strategy includes purchasing additional land, acquiring state-of-the-art machinery, and strengthening its foreign partnerships. Notably, the company has been operating without bank loans for the past decade, reinvesting its profits to fuel sustainable growth.
The third generation of the Kazi family has now joined the business, bringing fresh perspectives and international experience. With education from the UK, they are eager to implement new ideas, adopt modern technologies, and expand the company’s global footprint.
