Mr. Dipesh gives insights on his journey and how they have started exporting. Talking about ‘Make in India’ campaign he says that it has given recognition to Indian manufacturers. Mr. Dipesh also talks about how Indian manufacturers need to improve their services and quantities to enter into the global market.
The world of industries irrespective of type and final product wouldn’t have been around without the help of heavy machinery which include sheet metal cutting, stamping machines and hydraulic presses, a mainstay of the Shailesh group of companies of Rajkot in Gujarat.
They came about in the year 1970 due to the untiring efforts of its founder Mr Devrajbhai Kawa and today Mr Shailesh Kawa. They are known within and outside India for their machines that include C-type power press, Pillar-type power press, Power press machines, Shearing machine, Hydraulic press, Press brakes and Four pillar hydraulic press. Of these they stand to be one of the country’s best. These machines are designed and developed using high-grade raw material and components with their entire range being in compliance with the international quality standards.
Their machines are largely utilized in heavy machining and engineering industries worldwide. Available in diverse specifications, these machines can be customized as per the specific requirements of clients who are said to have been with them for decades.
Where the world recognized the company is in its 50-strength set-up, one of the best in the country if not the world. Diligent by choice, the company’s employees have been producing marvelous machines for industries that surpass even international standards. It’s their want to be able to stand out of the crowd and be counted for their worth that they have a great R & D department besides being quite safe with finance and resources. Towards quality, they remain one among a few who believe in TQWM working that takes place in a fairly large production area.
Mr. Shailesh Kawa, Managing Director of the Shailesh Group of Companies in an Interview with Machine Makers talks about his journey into the present where they are known to be the best in the field. They have been the manufacturer of sheet metal forming and cutting machines since 1970. Their machines are used in sheet metal components making. Their machines go to not only hydraulic presses within the country in the private sector but also to the Indian Railways, various government departments, and are also exported.
The group’s hydraulic press c-type series along with other products are made in India in every aspect. Their earliest machines were mechanical presses and then hydraulic machines which were greatly in demand in the Indian industry. The development of these new designs is attributed to Mr. Kishor Kawa who developed the designs and machinery.
Besides making machines on their own, the group also supplies spares and services to imported machines in India. These days though most of their clients would like to use “Made in India” machines in which they are the absolute best. For that the “Make in India” campaign has been truly helpful. “Earlier the Chinese machines were overpowering the Indian market” says Mr. Shailesh talking about the impact of China-made machines on the Indian market. “Our business will improve” he says with the encouragement it has got from ‘Make in India’.
“We can easily compete with the Chinese machines. That said, it’s the Japanese and Germans who have the technical upper-hand” comments Mr. Shailesh talking about the position of India in the market for sheet-metal stamping and related activity. There exists a huge market in India for simple machines that are competitively priced. By providing the right machines at the right price to the right user, the situation of Indian manufacturers can improve tremendously.
