From a humble beginning to becoming a globally recognized brand, Goyum has established itself as a leader in oil mill machinery manufacturing. Founded in 1977, the company has grown from a small domestic business to an international enterprise, exporting high-quality machines to over 65 countries. Through innovation, dedication, and a commitment to quality, Goyum has built a legacy that continues to shape the industry.
Goyum Screw Press was founded by Shri Satprakash Jain, who came from the small village of Tsunam near Ludhiana. In 1971, he moved to Ludhiana to seek better opportunities. His journey started in a relative’s factory, where he worked for five years, gaining expertise in the manufacturing of oil mill machinery. Driven by ambition and a desire to create something of his own, he ventured into contract-based manufacturing before establishing his own workshop in 1977.
Starting a business in the late 1970s was not easy. Without modern communication tools like the internet, Shri Satprakash relied on newspapers, directories like Tata Jallopejit, and word-of-mouth networking to connect with suppliers and customers. Despite financial struggles and skepticism from his family, he continued. With immense dedication and hard work, he built a solid foundation for Goyum, supplying oil mill machinery across India.
In 2000, Vinod Jain, son of Shri Satprakash Jain, joined the family business after completing his MBA. From a young age, he was deeply involved in the company, joining his father to the office on holidays and observing the business operations. He noticed numerous export inquiries arriving via fax and post, which were often disregarded due to the complexities of international trade at the time. However, he saw an opportunity to expand Goyum’s reach beyond India. With a vision to take the business global, Vinod Jain pursued the first export opportunity in Uganda. A chance encounter with an Indian customer who purchased machines for Uganda opened doors to the African market. This marked the beginning of Goyum’s export journey. With strategic planning and relentless efforts, he expanded the company’s exports to over 65 countries, transforming it into an internationally renowned brand.

Under his leadership, the company diversified its product range to include solvent extraction plants, refinery plants, feed mill plants, and turnkey projects for various oil seeds, including mustard, soybean, groundnut, sunflower, and more. His unwavering commitment to quality and innovation positioned Goyum as a trusted name in the industry. The transition from a domestic supplier to a global exporter was not without challenges. Financial limits, lack of banking support, and limited industry knowledge about exports made the journey tough. In the early 2000s, the company faced a major downturn. However, Vinod Jain’s strategic decision to expand internationally, along with advance payments from international clients, helped bring back the business.
One of the biggest challenges in the manufacturing industry is maintaining a skilled workforce. Unlike the automotive sector, which has a large pool of skilled workers, oil mill machinery manufacturing requires specialized expertise. Goyum has overcome this by investing in employee training and retaining experienced professionals.
Future of innovation
Continuing the legacy, the third generation has now joined the business. Vinod Jain’s son Goyam Jain, after completing his Industrial Engineering and Management degree in Germany, has brought fresh perspectives and global insights to the company. His passion and confidence mirror that of his father and grandfather, as he aims to take Goyum screw press to even greater heights.
His education in Germany has equipped him with knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and management strategies. The company follows a simple yet powerful philosophy that never compromise on quality. Even if a client cannot afford high-end machinery, Goyum screw press offers smaller-capacity solutions but never lowers its quality standards.
This principle, taught by Shri Satprakash and upheld by Vinod Jain, has earned the company a excellent reputation. Many of Goyum’s machines, supplied over two decades ago, continue to function efficiently, an example to their durability and superior craftsmanship.
Their journey from a small workshop in Ludhiana to an internationally recognized brand is a story of innovation, and excellence. The company has consistently adapted to market demands while maintaining its core values of quality and customer satisfaction. As Goyum looks to the future, it remains committed to technological advancements, sustainability, and expanding its global footprint. With a strong foundation built by Shri Satprakash, visionary leadership by Vinod Jain, and a new generation ready to take charge, Goyum is set to continue its legacy of excellence in the oil mill machinery industry.
The story is not just about business growth; it is about determination, family values, and an strong belief in delivering the best. As the company moves forward, it remains dedicated to pushing boundaries and setting new standards in the industry, ensuring that its legacy of quality and innovation continues for generations to come.
