Go3D started as an idea and has grown into a key player in India’s 3D printing industry through innovation and hard work. Founded by Ravindra Patel in 2017, Go3D has emerged as one of the leading manufacturers in the 3D printing industry, challenging international competition and fostering indigenous manufacturing solutions.
Ravindra Patel, CEO of Go3D, started on his entrepreneurial journey right after completing his BTech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering in 2015. Unlike many of his peers, he chose to bypass traditional employment and instead co-founded Rokas Automation, a company focused on system integration, particularly in electrification and fire safety solutions.
He had a strong interest in manufacturing, Mr Patel’s entrepreneurial aspirations led him to explore new opportunities in advanced technology. In 2017, an encounter with a friend returning from the USA introduced him to the transformative potential of additive manufacturing. Recognizing the lack of indigenous 3D printer manufacturers in India and the dominance of foreign players, he and his team committed themselves to wide ranging R&D. After three years of careful development, Go3D launched its first 3D printer in 2021.
Launching an indigenous 3D printing company in a market dominated by Chinese and Western manufacturers posed significant challenges. Competing against lower-cost imported machines priced as low as INR 15,000, Go3D positioned itself as a premium, high-precision alternative, with its flagship products starting at INR 2 lakhs. The main difference for Go3D was its commitment to superior accuracy, reliability, and benchmarking, which gradually won customer confidence. The company secured its first order from a drone manufacturing firm, which later placed repeat orders, validating Go3D’s product quality and market relevance. This initial success made the way for broader industry acceptance and expansion.

Go3D’s journey began with a focus on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printers, starting with bed sizes of 300mm. Over time, the company expanded its portfolio to include large-scale FDM 3D printers with bed sizes of up to 1.2 meters, enabling broader industrial applications. In 2022, Go3D introduced resin-based 3D printers, catering to high-precision applications that demand superior detailing and accuracy. Taking a groundbreaking step, the company ventured into metal 3D printing technology, becoming the only Indian company with patented metal printing technology. Go3D’s commitment to R&D has led to the acquisition of two patents, solidifying its leadership in India’s additive manufacturing industry. A key driving force behind these innovations is Dr Dipal, one of Patel’s partners, whose PhD specialization in metal printing technology has played a pivotal role in advancing Go3D’s technological capabilities.
While Go3D was a big step, Mr Patel’s first company, Raucous Automation LLP, remained a stable foundation. This initial venture allowed him to gain business understanding while ensuring financial stability. Unlike Raucous Automation, which primarily handled system integration and government tenders, Go3D represents Patel’s long-term vision of establishing an independent manufacturing entity. By strategically investing in rental properties instead of real estate, Mr Patel ensured maximum allocation of funds to product development and team expansion. Today, Raucous Automation employs 35 professionals, while Go3D continues to scale with a focus on high-tech manufacturing.
Industry Focus and Future Prospects
Go3D serves a variety of industries with its 3D printing solutions. These include the casting and foundry industry, the architectural and design sector, education and research institutions, and aerospace and defense manufacturing. The company is now preparing for global expansion, with plans to enter the export market by 2025. Having achieved product maturity, repeat customers, and necessary certifications, Go3D is poised to introduce its innovative solutions to the international market.
While not entirely indigenous in component sourcing, Go3D shows ‘Make in India’ spirit through its localized R&D and manufacturing processes. The company is currently rebranding, with a new logo and website set to launch soon, enhancing its brand visibility and market presence Reflecting on his journey, Patel emphasizes the significance of innovation, and strategic decision-making. With a dedicated team, continuous technological advancements, and a clear roadmap for international expansion, Go3D is set to redefine India’s position in the global 3D printing industry.
As Mr Patel sums it up, “Our mission has always been to build world-class solutions and contribute to India’s journey toward technological self-reliance.” With a strong foundation and a forward-thinking approach, Go3D is well-positioned to leave a lasting impact on the future of manufacturing in India and beyond.
