In 1995, a startup started its journey in Bangalore by a visionary entrepreneur Manjunath Shastry with just one CNC machine centre with the goal was to develop the high quality, best tools in India. After a years later, the company started exporting to Japan in 1998 and that was a huge achievement which transformed everything. The whole team got a chance to learn and study that how to create things in a proper and systematic manner. The Japanese work culture showed the company that how to improve a manufacturing process. This knowledge from Japan helped them develop better quality products. Slowly, the company started making its own boring tools.
In 2010, the company started making micro boring tools. That time, It was not easy but they took it as a challenge. They worked on it, improved the tools design. Over the next 15 years, the company became well-known brand for micro boring tools in across India. Now, the company is growing by selling products in many parts of the country.
The company is none other the FineTech Tooling. FineTech faced too many problems in making the tools, but marketing them was very tough. The team of FineTech did not have much experience in selling or promoting boring tools. They also did not have enough finance to take part in exhibitions so it’s hard for them to reach customers. In 2015, the FineTech joined its first exhibition at IMTEX. That was a turning point for the company cause from that time people started noticing their tools after that FineTech has participated in many international exhibitions like Hannover Messe, AMB – Stuttgart , and also in Brazil , Austria and Vietnam. After that, they slowly built a strong network. At first, there were only a few dealers. Now, there are almost 70 dealers in all over India. In recent years, The company’s production capacity also increased. Their tools became more accurate, precision and they started designing more new products as well.
Embodiyng the Spirit of Make in India to Inspire a New Generation of Indian Innovators
The decision to manufacture in India mainly came from the machining, experties, design and innovation. The team of FineTech had good knowledge about metal cutting. They knew what worked and what did not. This experience of the team members helped them design better tools. They always made sure that the tools they designed would perform well and in a better way. This confidence gave them strength to grow further. One thing that makes FineTech unique from others is that, no one in India is making macro boring tools. That makes their product different and if we’re comparing their tools with European or Japanese tools, FineTech ensures that the quality of their products are of High precise and reasonably priced. So customers get world-class tools at a better price. This is the main goal of FineTech. FineTech also highlighted that is a biggest benefit that are made in India. FineTech developed many different types of tools. The main products include micro boring kits, finish boring tools, large diameter boring tools, rough boring tools, deep boring tools, and special boring tools. All of these tools are designed to work more faster and give better quality results which help industries save time and improve their quality in making products.

Being part of the Make in India movement means a lot to the FineTech. The FineTech strongly believes that India has the skills, the manpower, and the enough technology to make great products. More and more companies around the world are now looking at India as a good place to manufacture tools and machines. Indian companies just need to make products that can match international standards. FineTech tools are being used by many industrial sectors like Aerospace , automobile to general engineering in India. And the quality of the tools is good enough to compete in global markets as well. Even though the company is part of the Make in India movement, it has not taken much support from the government. FineTech pointed that they did not receive any special funding or subsidies. The only help they got was for joining exhibitions in other countries. The company feels that the government should do more to support Make In India products. Indian industries should get more chances to supply tools in sectors like defense and other key industries. That would help more Indian manufacturing sectors grow and compete globally.
Looking at the future, Finetech sees a lot of opportunity as the Indian market is growing. More and more industries are setting up their operations in India nowadays. So the demand for tools is increasing. In the next 5 to 10 years, FineTech plans to launch new tools for the machine tool industry. There are already ideas and plans. In this way FineTech wants to keep improving, keep growing, and keep contributing to India’s manufacturing strength.
FineTech also a conveys a strong message for young entrepreneurs that is “ This is the right time to start something new in India. The country has everything, starting from people, skills, technology, and knowledge. What is needed is the will to work hard and the belief in regional talent. If someone has a good idea and works on it with dedication, there is no limit to what can be achieved. The world is looking at India. This is the moment to take proper action”. This story of FineTech shows how one small step can grow into something bigger. From a single machine in 1995 to a well-known brand with a strong presence across India.
