Edge Automation
Miral Khanpara, the Managing Director of Edge Automation

From a small trading business in 2010 to becoming a leading player in industrial automation, Edge Automation has emerged as a game-changer in India’s manufacturing sector. With a focus on robotics, gantry automation, and conveyor systems, Edge Automation is revolutionizing production efficiency, minimizing labor dependency, and enhancing technological integration in industries ranging from machine tools to aerospace.

Founded In 2010, Miral Khanpara the Managing Director of Edge Automation initially started as a trading business specializing in pneumatic products. These products played a crucial role in the machine tool and packaging industries, allowing the company to gain deep insights into the manufacturing sector.

By 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Edge Automation transitioned into manufacturing, focusing on three major product lines—gantry automation, robotics integration, and conveyor systems. These solutions were designed to optimize industrial operations, reduce human intervention, and maximize production efficiency.

Edge Automation has positioned itself as a technology-driven company, catering to various industries such as agriculture, aerospace, and the bearing industry. Their automated solutions, including CNC and VMC machine loading and unloading, have significantly reduced manpower requirements in manufacturing plants.

The company’s expertise extends to providing customized solutions for both Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and end users. Their automation systems seamlessly integrate with existing manufacturing setups, ensuring efficiency and reliability in industrial operations.

Strategic Collaborations and Market Presence

Edge Automation has built strong relationships with key industry players, including Jyoti Brothers, Fanuc, and Global CNC. With a robust presence across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, the company has established itself as a leading robotics integrator and gantry automation provider in western India.

The company’s ability to provide comprehensive automation solutions to industries struggling with labor shortages has made it a preferred partner for manufacturers seeking to enhance productivity and reduce human error. Mr Khanpara completed his Mechanical Engineering from Rajkot in 2007, after that he completed his MBA from Symbiosis, Pune. His early career included a stint at Irma Chemical, followed by a pivotal role at SM Cinematics—a Japanese company where he gained valuable experience in the automation sector.

Driven by an entrepreneurial vision, he started his journey as an authorized distributor of SM Cinematics products in 2014. With a strong customer base, including major clients like Reliance, he gradually transitioned into manufacturing, aiming to address labor shortages in the industrial sector through automation.

The automation industry in India has undergone significant transformation in recent years, and Edge Automation has been at the forefront of this evolution. The company recognized the inefficiencies caused by labor shortages in manufacturing plants, where machines often remained underutilized due to a lack of skilled operators. By introducing automated solutions, Edge Automation enabled industries to optimize machine utilization, ensuring continuous production without the constraints of human labor availability. This innovative approach has resulted in substantial cost savings and improved productivity for businesses.

Edge Automation has received significant recognition for its contributions to the Indian manufacturing sector. In 2017, the company was awarded the Best MSME GST Award, which included a government-backed interest-free loan for one year. Additionally, in 2018, Edge Automation secured a Startup India certification, further validating its commitment to innovation.

While Edge Automation initially focused on the machine tool industry, it has since expanded into forging and investment casting. The company is a pioneer in introducing automation solutions for the forging industry, where extreme temperatures (exceeding 1100°C) pose significant challenges for human workers. By implementing fully automated solutions, Edge Automation has eliminated manual handling in high-temperature environments, enhancing safety and efficiency. This achievement marks a significant milestone in India’s industrial automation landscape.

Over the past five years, Edge Automation has witnessed exponential growth. The company recorded a 60% revenue increase in FY 2023-24 compared to the previous year and anticipates a 35% growth in the current fiscal year. In 2023, the company achieved a turnover of ₹30 crore, with projections to reach ₹40 crore in 2024. Edge Automation’s success can be attributed to its focus on reducing human dependency in manufacturing. By replacing manual operations with automated solutions, the company has helped businesses achieve up to 95% efficiency, a significant improvement over the traditional labor-intensive processes.

As India moves toward greater industrial automation under initiatives like Make in India, Edge Automation is well-positioned to play a crucial role in driving technological advancements and manufacturing excellence.
