Mr. Shailesh Kawa talks about manufacturers in India and how they can easily compete with the global market with the right strategy. ‘Make in India’ is providing a lot of opportunities for Indian manufacturers and allowing them to revolutionize Indian industries.
Yugma Impressions came about in the year 2003 and is today a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrochemical etching machines and consumables including electrolyte, marking head, photographic stencils, etc., that enable marking of products aesthetically, permanently and cost effectively. They today cater to almost 60 to 70% of demand in the country in automotives, food production, education apart from certain government sectors like defense, ammunition etc. They export regularly to the likes of Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and European countries.
Everything from a piece of cutlery, to taps, drills, handmade and automatic tools, crank pins, engine valves, surgical and medical instruments, bath ware, sanitary hardware, ball bearings, gears, to engine components needs to be marked to confirm identity and maintain sanctity and order.

The company renders solutions for both automatic and semi-automatic processes that suit respective applications and has successfully accomplished complete plant automation projects of chemical etching for automobile companies with respect to marking numbers, emblems, logos, dates, serial / batch numbers and several other kinds of details. The company also undertakes Job work for Laser Marking and Chemical Etching besides developing processes in response to the growing needs of a cross section of industries that need to mark metal components without the stress associated with conventional marking like steel stamping.
Yugma Impressions conducts several quality tests during the manufacturing process like Leeb hardness test, shore hardness test, Brinell hardness test, roughness test, digital Rockwell hardness test, Vickers hardness test, and ultrasonic flaw detection to name a few that ensure durability and smoothness of operation.
Their modern, state-of-the-art plant besides turning out the best of products is also known to be very safe and comfortable for its employees in every respect, and continually updates itself to remain ahead of the serving curve.

Remembering the past Mr. Rahul Bubane states that way back in 2003 when they commenced, the technology was very new to the country, and was introduced from Germany. It first appeared in IMTEX, and in his own words “I came across the technology and it was very difficult to develop these stencils and electrolytes from the media which we were using”. Initially they imported things from Germany besides other countries. Within 4 to 5 years, they developed the technology in house after going through their share of trials and tribulations.
He is hopeful of the ‘Make in India’ campaign of 2014 turning manufacturing into something that shall increase India’s GDP substantially beside cutting out imports and making India self-sufficient. India, though an importer of many things, does not import customized attachment of the kind that is made by Yugma Impressions under its “make in India” initiative. They in fact give solutions to foreign investors who invest in infrastructure and products. Doing all this provides job opportunities besides boosting productivity.
Where China differs from India, he says, is in their government’s providing manufacturers with a variety of facilities including certifications at a much faster pace. “India’s biggest challenge is getting the right people” says Mr. Rahul talking about India’s ability to compete with the global market. There is a lot of potential within India, they just need to find the sector that fits them well.
Elaborating his stand, Mr Bubane says “India is today ranked 3rd in global manufacturing among 48 nations. It is setting a benchmark in quality and manufacturing. ‘Make in India’ has paved the way for Indian manufacturers for betterment of their processes. Indian mentality being price cautious, the customers should support ‘Make in India’ products regardless. It will definitely improve the condition of India in the global market and change people’s perception of Indian manufacturers”.
