The robust R&S Spectrum Rider FPH analyzers now have base models that can evaluate spectrum up to 44 GHz. They combine benchtop functionality with the lightweight portability of a handheld instrument, as well as intuitive features, to make high-performance measuring on the go quick and easy.

Rohde & Schwarz has added additional base versions to its popular R&S Spectrum Rider FPH series, which now support measurement frequencies up to 44 GHz. To the existing R&S FPH models with measuring frequencies ranging from 5 kHz to 6, 13,6, and 26.5 GHz, a new 44 GHz variant has been added. In addition, three new tracking generator versions with measurement frequencies of 13.6, 26.5, and 44 GHz are available.

The R&S Spectrum Rider FPH family offers measurement frequencies from 5 kHz to 44 GHz

The R&S Spectrum Rider FPH was the first handheld spectrum analyzer in the industry to give robust RF performance for field and lab studies. It’s simple to use because of the large buttons and multi-touch gesture screen. The versatile R&S Spectrum Rider can now perform a wider range of measurement jobs thanks to new higher frequency variants. The R&S Spectrum Rider boasts class-leading RF performance with a sensitivity of –160 dBm and measurement accuracy of approximately 0.5 dB between 10 MHz and 3 GHz. The new models may be used to verify 5G, broadcast, radar, defence, and satellite communications links in the field.

The R&S Spectrum Rider is designed for mobile use, weighing only 3.2 kg for the 44 GHz variant. It has the longest battery life of any 44 GHz handheld spectrum analyzer for field use, lasting up to 4.5 hours. The non-reflective display enables a daylight mode for increased readability in direct sunlight, and the backlit keypad allows users to work in the dark.

The large-format capacitive touchscreen on this handheld spectrum analyzer family makes it simple to modify parameters including frequency, span, and reference level, as well as set markings. In addition, wide buttons and a useful multifunction wheel make operation with gloves in outdoor situations much easier. The analyzer may be controlled remotely via USB or LAN, and for added convenience, the R&S MobileView app for iOS or Android allows for seamless remote operation.
