This innovation involves the integration of the new PUS evaluation unit with either the safePXV or WCS sensors, achieving high safety standards (SIL 3 and PL e) with minimal effort.

The safePXV system, using a single camera-supported sensor with multicolored Data Matrix codes, offers precise positioning for linear-guided applications like monorail conveyors, effective over distances up to 10 kilometers. This approach provides a more straightforward and efficient solution for achieving high safety standards in positioning tasks.

Pepperl+Fuchs‘ WCS position encoding system is designed for robust outdoor positioning tasks, utilizing a stainless steel code rail with specialized recesses. This system features two U-shaped read heads that ensure consistent and reliable detection along tracks up to 314.5 meters, even under challenging conditions like those in port crane operations.

The system’s sensor signals are analyzed by the PUS-F161-B safe evaluation unit, which operates on two channels and serves as a gateway to the fieldbus. This unit not only generates a reliable position value (SafePos SF) but can also compute a safely monitored speed (SafeSpeed SF). With certifications according to IEC 61508 for SIL 3 and EN 13849 for PL e, these integrated applications promise easy setup due to their pre-certification and pre-configuration, streamlining the commissioning process.
