Pepperl+Fuchs is a leader across the globe in process automation. It has introduced the Bebco EPS purge and pressurization system. Its design is particularly for usage with large motors or large enclosures in Zone 1 hazardous areas. This system purges an enclosure of more than 450 cubic feet. Thus, this is the biggest purging system from Pepperl+Fuchs. The system finds applications in the Oil & Gas and Chemical/Petrochemical industries.
This completely automatic system is not in need of an operator for the initiation of purging and pressurization. Its optional temperature sensors are mounted around the motor for cooling or alarm notification. For excess leakage from the motor, automation pressure compensation can be done.
The 6100 system comprises optional temperature sensors, a low-pressure sensor, vent, and a control unit. Users can leverage the control unit for system configuration of the motor size, temperature switch points, up to three temperature sensor inputs to monitor varied points within the motor housing, two selectable intrinsically secure inputs for several actions, extra output for alarm or control, and pressure switch points for shutoff pressure and leakage compensation.
The characteristics of the 6100 series motor purge and pressurization system are the following:
- Automatic pressure compensation for excess leakage from motor
- Multiple temperature inputs for control and monitoring
- Auxiliary contact outputs for control or alarm
- System operation monitoring and enclosure power control
- Intrinsically secure user interface for system programming and monitoring
- Maximum flow rate of 14,000 l/min
- Complete automation
- ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 certification
Additional features of the 6100 series system include system bypass, manual enclosure power on/off, temperature activation of purging for cooling purposes, and delay of power shutdown upon loss of pressure for pressure correction for shutdown procedures.
In hazardous areas, for secure operation, and accurate enclosure pressure reading is possible due to an intrinsically secure pressure sensor, which can measure internal pressure ranging from 0 to 25 millibar. It has a remote location at the motor’s low-pressure section for precise, secure motor pressure readings.
The EPV-6100 vent is used to detect varied flows for purging and then providing signal feedback to the 6100 series control unit for the commencement of the purge timer. From 14,000 l/min to maximum, there are five flow rates for meeting any application need in huge enclosures or motors.
Other characteristics of the 6100 series system are inclusive of delay of power shutdown on pressure loss for pressure correction for shutdown procedures, temperature activation of purging for cooling purposes, manual enclosure power on/off, and system bypass.
