  • Specially designed for compact applications, the new innovation can handle demanding payload requirements
  • This intelligent gripper can be easily customized, offers fast ROI, and can work with other collaborative robots
  • Comes with cleanroom certification, enabling deployment in THE Pharmaceutical and Electronics industry

Denmark based OnRobot for its worldwide customers launched cleanroom-ready IP67 certified low-cost and easy to use collaborative parallel gripper 2FG7. The gripper can be used for wider applications adding to their electric range of gripper products, can be deployed within minutes, in limited spaces, and is specially designed to handle demanding payloads.

Enrico Krog Iversen

The new product was developed with feedback from our customers, who were looking for a parallel gripper, easy to use just like any other OnRobot’s products, that can handle payloads about 6kgs, said Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot talking about Gripper 2FG7. He adds that FG7 is powerful, a production-ready gripper combined with strength, great functionalities, and easy programming.

OnRobot claimed that the versatile 2FG7 with dimensions 156 x 158 x 180 mm/6.14 x 6.22 x 7.08 in, can handle heavy, bulky payloads a maximum of 11 kg with ease, and the model much is smaller than their RG2 and RG6 grippers. 2FG7 is having a gripping force between 20-140N, a perfect product which can be used in compact manufacturing facilities, and in applications with space limits.

Iversen told that robotic automation costs came down with the declining cost of the hardware over time, but the complex and time taking deployment of robotics applications are still a challenge for small and medium level companies. “OnRobot is changing the way SME manufacturers use Robots in their work”, added Mr. Iversen. Intelligent feedback features of 2FG7 electric gripper which include grip detection and lost grip detection simplify the deployment process.

The new gripper can be easily integrated with the current range of OnRobot products, and is compatible with all collaborative robots in the market, certified with ISO/ TS 15066 for collaborative robot cell risk assessments. 2FG7 comes with ISO Class 5 cleanroom certification, which can be used for many applications in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries. The production-ready gripper is build to withstand all harsh manufacturing conditions and complies.

The all-electric 2FG7 gripper is said to have many advanced features compared to pneumatics-based gripper systems and is powered by an integrated electric motor. Through an intuitive software interface, 2FG7 users can easily program force, speed, and stroke control settings. Compared to a pneumatic gripper that negatively impacts air quality, 2FG7 comes with intelligent grip detection capabilities that have high-resolution force control.

Asia is the strongest market for industrial robots as per the reports from the International Federation of Robotics, and in India in the last five years witnessed a doubling up industrial robots operating in factories. “There is an increasing interest from manufacturers who are very new to robotics to embrace collaborative automation, and with 2FG7 gripper, and OnRobot’s complete range of products, we are sure to provide simple, user friendly and affordable automation solutions to the growing Indian market”, says James Taylor, General Manager, APAC at OnRobot.

A top automation adopter in Asia, India registered a 15% growth in the use of industrial robots last year. India is a promising market for industrial automation, and businesses are accelerating automation 8% more than the global average of 50% according to a recent World Economic Forum study. OnRobot is with its grippers is expected to improve its market share in the region, comes with a wide range of tools for collaborative applications, including electric grippers, a vacuum gripper, force/torque sensors, a 2.5D vision system, screwdriver, sander kits, and tool changers.
