NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has launched a novel synchronous motor that has very high energy efficiency, IE5+. This motor doesn’t need a fan and has a very smooth surface. Its combination with the nsdtupH surface treatment is feasible. Its optimum usage is in wash-down apps and intralogistics.
The IE5+ has considerably lesser loss than the IE4 series. The IE5+ is an unventilated smooth motor with an efficiency tremendously more than the IE5 series through a wide torque range. It is an optimum selection for operation in the partial load range. This product has a greater power density with a lesser installation area. The initial launch is in the power range of 0.25 to 1.1 kW with a continuous torque from 1.6 to 4.8 Nm. The speed varies from 0 to 2,100 min-1. The mounting is direct as per NEMA or IEC.
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS plans to extend the IE5+ with more sizes and powers. This motor is wash-down capable, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean. It is a perfect choice for harsh and hygiene-sensitive environments.
The standard equipment has an integrated encoder. This motor can be combined with NORD gear units and drive electronics as a modular system. NORD plans to make it available in the second quarter of 2020.
NORD provides the nsdtupH surface treatment for corrosion protection of motor starters, frequency inverters, smooth-surfaced motors, and gear units in wash-down optimized cast Aluminum housings. The drives display resistance to alkalies and are easy to clean. You can use high-pressure cleaners or aggressive media. The motors are fanless and smooth-surfaced due to which they run without noise and do not spread germs.
