Igus has developed a freely accessible, free-of-charge, and a new online tool called the drylin shaft configurator. Users need only three steps to select the right shaft in the required length from seven materials, machine the main body and the machined ends with chamfers and grooves, and order the configuration. Now, users can design a shaft without a CAD program.

Users can get the necessary product without any CAD software or technical knowledge. The diameters of the shaft materials vary from 6 to 50 millimeters. Users can view the price of their configuration and then place an order. Igus provides the STEP file for the shaft and the technical dimension drawing. So, the direct design of the application is possible.

The first step of the drylin shaft configurator is used to determine the diameter, length, and number of shafts. The next step is the material selection with the ideal surface treatment. The materials are hard-coated Aluminum shafts, hardened or Chrome-plated steel shafts, hardened Stainless Steel materials, and VA shafts.

The Food Processing industry uses Stainless Steel shafts. Mechanical Engineering uses Aluminum shafts as they are lightweight and economical.

Users can machine the shaft body, machined ends, and 14 standard elements such as grooves, threads, holes, and bevels. An intelligent system provides the minimum and maximum values to avoid faults. The last step is to offer an overview of the price, bulk pricing, and delivery time. Here, users can order the shaft, request a quote, and download the dimension drawing. The order is sent digitally to the factory and manufactured within 3-6 days.

Igus is a motion plastics specialist developing bearings of tribo-polymers of 50 different materials in various dimensions. The speciality is that the iglidur materials are of lubrication-free and maintenance-free tribo-plastics. They are corrosion-free, lightweight, and wear-resistant.
