- Compact mobile crane for space-restricted construction sites and short-term deployment
- The Electric Crane can operate with variable power supply
- The latest addition to the existing series of mobile construction cranes
- The crane's single-engine and ECOmode features ensure reliable travel and economical operation on site
The MK 73-3.1 mobile construction crane is the newest and smallest addition to Liebherr’s mobile construction crane family and complements the crane series comprising the MK 88-4.1 and MK 140. The compact 3-axle crane can satisfy the market demands for a small, compact and agile mobile construction crane that is fast and flexible in operation.
The crane is designed to be ready for use in around 10 minutes and does not require any additional transport vehicles. The electrically operated crane can be powered by its integrated generator or supplied with site power. The crane’s ECOmode and single-engine feature makes travelling reliable and operation economical on-site.
The small mobile construction crane merges all the features of the previous, MK 88-4.1. The crane spans 13.80 m in length, 2.75 m in width and 4.0 m in height, it is impressively compact and, as a result, extremely easy to manoeuvre. It offers a 6-tonne maximum load capacity.
Long reach options

The mobile construction crane has been designed with long reaches in mind, to meet the typical demands of densely built-up inner-city construction sites with projecting edges. The crane's jib length of 38.5 m, provides a jib head load capacity of 2,000 kg with additional ballast. The crane achieves a lifting height of 51 m in a 45-degree luffed jib position and has a maximum lifting capacity of 2,800 kg; up to 1850 kg at the jib head. Engineers have emphasized a design with a consistently high maximum load capacity in all luffed jib positions. The three possible luffed jib positions of the crane ensure flexible operation.
Electric crane operation
The electrically operated MK 73-3.1, is extremely quiet and emission-free, which is ideal for working at night and in noise-sensitive areas. The small mobile construction crane is designed in a way so that it can operate with 63 or 32 amps without compromising on working speed.
Extensive features
The crane operator is aided by diverse assistance systems. It includes an adjustable lift cabin and modern camera systems to ensure that both load and undercarriage are always in view. The Micromove assistance system’s fine positioning mode ensures precise load handling. The crane to be used on particularly tight construction sites, with its five steering programmes with active rear-axle steering and half-sided support.
Additionally, options such as the reinforced trolley travel gear and Load Plus load curve, further increase the crane’s performance. This allows the lifting of 50% heavier loads in a 45° luffed position.
Single-engine concept
The single-engine concept of MK 73-3.1, makes operation economical: the electric generator on the MK 73-3.1 mobile construction crane is only operated by the travel motor in the undercarriage. The MK 73-3.1, mobile construction crane’s impressive manoeuvrability and flexibility combined with reliability ensure an efficient, modern addition to any crane fleet.
