The quattroClean snow jet technology uses liquid carbon dioxide as a cleaning medium to remove particulate and filmic contamination, and the new pulsed jet generated by the innovative nozzle is slightly abrasive, allowing it to remove loosely adhering welding beads, particulate contamination, and flux residues from bonding surfaces.

The pulsed jet is also effective in removing partial film residues after hot stamping or laminating aluminum onto plastic parts, and it can remove fine burrs from aluminum and zinc die castings while cleaning hard and brittle plastics such as PEEK and PPS. The two-substance ring nozzle can also be used as an alternative to conventional cooling lubricants in machining applications, providing a higher metal removal rate, improving productivity, and reducing tool wear.

Liquid carbon dioxide is fed through the wear-free nozzle, expanding to form fine snow crystals that are bundled by a separate jacket jet of compressed air and accelerated to supersonic speed. When the jet impacts on the surface to be cleaned or deburred, thermal, mechanical, solvent, and sublimation effects combine to remove particulate and filmic contamination, as well as fine burrs.

The detached contaminants or burrs are carried away from the part by the aerodynamic force of the compressed air jet and removed from the process chamber by an integrated extraction system. As CO2 sublimates at atmospheric pressure, the parts are immediately dry and can be further processed straightaway. The scalable quattroClean process can be adapted to different component geometries for partial or full-surface cleaning in a space-saving and efficient manner.
