Infineon Technologies AG has uplifted the most-sophisticated TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 to the arena of medium power. Now, EconoDUAL 3 is the standard industry package. This technology enables a 30 percent higher inverter output current for an identical frame size in the previous technology. The 1,200 Volt module offers a leading nominal current of 900 Amperes. This module’s chip and housing are useful for solar and UPS inverters, servo drives, commercial construction and agricultural vehicles (CAV), and industrial drive applications.
The TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 chip delivers lower static losses as compared to IGBT4 and a 30 percent lower on-state voltage. The result is loss decrease, particularly for industrial drives. On the other hand, an improvement in the controllability and the oscillation behavior is noticed. The permissible overload junction temperature is a maximum 175 degrees Celsius. The emitter-controlled 7th generation diode (EC7) has a 100 millivolts lower forward-voltage drop than the EC4 diode and a lowered oscillation tendency in times of turn-off.
The EconoDUAL 3 has a higher power density to avoid paralleling of modules. It simplifies the inverter design and decreases expenses. also this novel technology facilitates the upgrade of the existing inverter system designs.
This device has an enhanced housing to manage high temperatures and currents. A pre-applied thermal interface material (TIM) has a long lifetime and lowest thermal resistance. A quick, economical assembly is feasible due to PressFIT housing.
The EconoDUAL 3 portfolio featuring TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 has introduced the 900 A module in the first position. In 2020, the remaining current classes and module types are expected. Presently, you can order the lead type FF900R12ME7_B11. January 2020 onwards, the FF900R12ME7P_B11with a pre-applied TIM can be procured.
