Infineon Technologies AG is coming up with the new IMC300 motor controller series. This is a blend of the iMOTIONTM Motion Control Engine (MCE) with an additional microcontroller on the basis of the Arm® Cortex®-M0 core.

IMC300 is a complement to the IMC100 series with an aim at variable speed drives with high application flexibility. Both share the same implementation of the MCE 2.0providing ready-to-use motor and optional, PFC control. The MCE controls the motor and the system application runs completely independently on the embedded Arm® microcontroller.

MCE 2.0 is field-proven in the implementation of highly efficient field-oriented control(FOC) of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). The MCE does the integration of all hardware and software building blocks and essential protection features causing a reduced Bill of Material. It has two releases per year with improvements. The autonomous MCU has a flexible peripheral set for system functions, drive monitoring, and specific communication.

The iMOTIONTM Modular Application Design Kit (MADK) is a modular, flexible development platform with a range of control and power board alternatives for motor drive applications up to 1 KW. Quick prototyping of a drive inverter is enabled through two new control boards for the MADK.

Infineon has scheduled to display the new IMC300 series at the Embedded World in Nurembergat booth 225 in Hall 3A from February 25 to 27, 2020.
