A member of the ABB Group, B&R Automation introduces a new PLX family with X20 embedded, housed only with 55mm width. The new PLCs are half the width of comparable devices, comes with high performance and many integrated interfaces.
B&R Automation’s news PLC’s are powered by Intel Atom processors and are highly suitable for applications with short cycle times. Machine builders can save both costs and cabinet space, and compact devices can be controlled with a full-fledged robotic application.
The PLC family with X20 Embedded series comes with two standard USB ports, two Ethernet ports and an integrated flash memory card. Without any additional network infrastructure, the integrated switch can support daisy-chain cabling. Through one of the hardware interfaces RS485, a frequency inverter can be connected directly to the PLC without any additional hardware. Apart from RS485, the device features Powerlink.
Despite the new PLC X20 Embedded series offers high performance, it's fully maintenance-free. The PLCs, do not require any fans, batteries and the power supply is also integrated. The device also comes in optional variants and supports additional Fieldbus protocols with an interface slot. The PLCs can support additional Fieldbus protocols with an interface slot allow, which is available as optional variants. All X20 I/O modules can be connected, and all B&R interface cards can be combined with the new PLC X20 Embedded series.
