In a communication to the exhibitors and registered visitors on 31st December 2021, V Anbu, Director General & CEO of Indian Machine Tools Manufacturing Association informed about rescheduling IMTEX 2022, IMTEX FORMING  2022 & Tooltech 2022. “With the current situation arising out of Covid, especially Omicron, various state governments have started enforcing travel and other restrictions as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the virus. IMTMA received requests from several stakeholders expressing their concerns about holding IMTEX in January 2022”, wrote Mr Anbu.

In view of this challenging scenario and taking stock of the situation, IMTMA has decided to reschedule IMTEX to a later date. “We shall communicate the rescheduled dates by end of January 2022 with improvement in the situation. We regret any inconvenience caused and look forward to your continued patronage for IMTEX”, added Mr Anbu.

Karnataka has been witnessing a surge in the COVID-19 cases in the last couple. As of 29th December, Bengaluru recorded 400 new COVID-19 infections, registering an almost 50% spike from the total cases of 269, just a day before. The increase is equally alarming in Karnataka where the COVID cases reached 566 from 356 within a day, registering an almost 60% spike.

For the Indian industry, this comes as a relief as there were speculations of postponing the show. “The is timely and a wise decision”, commented Hari Shanker, Managing Editor of Machine Maker. He added that there is an expectation from the industry that  IMTEX 2022 will be coming stronger once the current situation is under control.

The Government of India recently instructed all the State governments to take necessary actions to contain the spread of the virus.
