HELLER, a global CNC machine tool manufacturer, has unveiled its F 6000 5-Axis Machining Centre, setting new cutting performance and precision standards at EMO Hannover 2023. The new machine maintains compatibility with previous HELLER models, making it an attractive solution for various industries.
HELLER makes its presence felt at EMO Hannover 2023 with its new 5-axis machining centre, which boasts groundbreaking improvements in cutting performance, precision, reliability, and ease of operation, cementing its status as a benchmark in the industry. Designed for 5-axis machining across various sectors, from heavy-duty cutting to light metal applications, the F 6000 offers versatility and quality that meet the demands of various industries, including general mechanical engineering, powertrain, power engineering, and aerospace.
Founded in Nürtingen, Germany, in 1894, HELLER has evolved from a small craft business into a global group of companies, employing over 2,600 people as of December 2022. Specializing in state-of-the-art CNC machine tools and manufacturing systems for metal-cutting applications, HELLER operates five production facilities across Europe, Asia, and North and South America, ensuring a reliable supply to customers worldwide. HELLER’s product range includes 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers, mill/turn machining centers, special-purpose and process machines, more, with a focus on digitization and automation in production.
HELLER F 6000 Enhance Cutting Performance
- Cutting-Edge Performance: The F 6000 is equipped with in-house developed motor spindles, including the Speed Cutting Unit (SCU) that can reach speeds of up to 15,000 rpm, the Dynamic Cutting Unit (DCU) with 380 Nm and 12,000 rpm for universal use, and the Power Cutting Unit (PCU) with a gear spindle and 1,150 Nm for heavy-duty machining.
- Enhanced Precision: The F 6000 features a revised drive concept for linear axes with two ball screws in the Z-axis and a reinforced X-axis. This results in higher dynamics and reduced positioning tolerances, setting new standards for accuracy and machining time.
- Mill-Turn Option: The F 6000’s Mill-Turn option incorporates a high-speed DDT (Direct Drive Turning) rotary table, capable of reaching speeds of up to 700 rpm. This innovation enables precision in both milling and turning operations, reducing production times.
- Ease of Operation: A user-friendly design includes a 24-inch touchscreen console, ample work area lighting, and an optional work area camera for improved visibility. The new Siemens SINUMERIK ONE control system ensures seamless compatibility with existing programs from previous HELLER machines.
- Automation Possibilities: The F 6000 comes equipped with a pallet changer as standard, allowing for automated series production. Furthermore, the “Automation-ready” option enables the integration of HELLER’s rotary pallet storage (RSP) and standardised linear storage solutions, providing automation flexibility.
- Efficient Chip Evacuation: The F 6000 ensures process reliability with a wide chip conveyor, steep covers in the work area, and stainless steel cladding of the chip chutes. A rear chip disposal design reduces the machine’s footprint.
The F 6000’s modular design, combined with the improvements in key components and machine structure, ensures high basic stability and allows for customization based on each customer’s specific needs, enhancing productivity in practical use.
Dr Manuel Gerst, Head of Development at HELLER Group, stated, “With the F 6000, we have succeeded in raising the already high standard to a new level, also due to newly developed key components ‘Made by HELLER’ such as spindles, heads, and tables while consistent standardization also helps us to ensure full compatibility with previous models.”
Compatibility with previous HELLER machines, such as tools, machine pallets, and fixtures from the 4-axis and 5-axis series, allows for a smooth transition to the F 6000. The HELLER F 6000 is available for order starting September 2023 and is poised to make a significant impact on the manufacturing industry. Its compact design and high-performance features offer a compelling solution for businesses of all sizes and across a variety of sectors.
