With around 80,000 visitors from across the globe, EMO 2025 served as a vibrant stage for the latest in manufacturing technology. For the CHIRON Group, the event was a resounding success. The company presented four machining centers in real-time cutting operations, highlighting advanced automation solutions on a compact 450 m² space, receiving enthusiastic feedback from international decision-makers.
Pioneering Micro5 XL with Automation Steals the Show
The Micro5 XL made its global debut at EMO 2025 and quickly became a highlight of the event. The “XL” represents a leap in micromachining, offering greater travel, enhanced cutting performance, and unparalleled flexibility. With a small footprint of just 1.7 m², the Micro5 XL handles workpieces up to 120 mm with highly dynamic BC 5-axis kinematics and spindle speeds of up to 50,000 rpm.
During the demonstration, the Micro5 XL performed 5-axis simultaneous high-speed cutting (HSC) on a “Bone Watch” part, showcasing fine, intricate structures and outstanding surface quality. The Variocell PICK&PLACE automation system facilitated raw part loading and finished part storage, ensuring seamless operation. This combination of machining power and automation provides plug-and-play functionality with an intuitive operating logic that makes scaling production easy.
Micro5: The Benchmark in Micromachining
The original Micro5, which has set the standard for micromachining, continues to impress with its ultra-compact design, weighing just 550 kg and operating on a 230 V connection. Despite its small size, it delivers exceptional rigidity and precision, handling the most intricate aerospace connectors with ease. Live demonstrations at EMO 2025 reaffirmed why the Micro5 remains the market leader in its class.
DZ 15 W with Variocell UNO: Maximizing Productivity
CHIRON’s DZ 15 W twin-spindle machining center demonstrated exceptional flexibility and productivity in a compact space. Its rotary table with direct drive positions quickly, offering precise, wear-free motion. Visitors saw two distinct processes in action: the manufacturing of aluminum pump housings for the automotive sector and cast iron fan covers for mechanical engineering.
The Variocell UNO automation system played a key role in improving productivity, enabling parallel processes and ensuring continuous parts supply. This autonomous setup is ideal for large-series production, with short cycle times and a high level of efficiency, extending the machine’s versatility beyond typical manufacturing applications.
FZ 19 S Five-Axis: Streamlining Complex Machining Processes
The FZ 19 S five-axis machining center is built for high-speed cutting of demanding materials used in industries such as aerospace and energy. At EMO 2025, visitors watched a full process in action, from rough machining to precise gear cutting, complex free-form milling, and high-precision geometry creation on a turbine housing. Its robust gantry design ensures high rigidity, and the active cooling system stabilizes temperature throughout the machining process, ensuring consistent, high-quality results.
Comprehensive Expertise for Sustainable Productivity
In addition to the live demonstrations, the CHIRON Group highlighted its full range of solutions in an interactive showroom. The display featured a broad portfolio of machines, including reconditioned models and spare parts, offering cost-effective ways to modernize existing production setups.
The team also highlighted CHIRON’s SmartLine digital systems, designed to boost efficiency and productivity, alongside comprehensive services like spindle repairs and machine optimization. The myCHIRON customer portal provides a full range of services, from spare parts procurement to refurbishments, ensuring that existing machines continue to deliver reliable performance for years.
A Successful Trade Show and Strong Industry Engagement
At the conclusion of EMO 2025, Matthias Rapp, Vice President of Global Marketing, summarized: “This year’s event was an outstanding success for CHIRON. We’re very pleased with the quality of leads and the opportunity to meet with companies from Asia, North America, and Europe. The feedback on our innovations, especially the Micro5 XL with Variocell PICK&PLACE, was overwhelmingly positive. It’s clear that automation and sustainable manufacturing will remain central to the industry’s future, and we’re proud to be leading the way.”
