For every problem, there is a solution, and that solution we can find within us. Ups and downs are natural phenomena, cyclic, or even if created purposefully. Before a couple of months, we were talking about the economic slowdown in the country. Now it’s all about Coronavirus, nationwide lockdown, and the global fight against it.
There are no doubts that the issues which are beyond our controls, causing uncertainties in our life. But as a matter of fact, all businesses are bound to face the Uncertainty at any given point of time, isn’t it? It is the ability of an individual as well as the management of an organization to take steps proactively, realign business goals, and hit the right opportunity to grow.
An automotive Tyre II vendor, one of my known clients from Bangalore, is into manufacturing auto components and special purpose machines. They were already troubled with the lack of orders, due to the slowdown in the automotive sector in general, and were expecting a shift during the first quarter of 2020. Then Corona happened!
Now what? Panic!
The fear of the future made the owners insecure within a day or two of lockdown, and the chain of reaction started to flow downwards, to the employees, their suppliers and service providers. Being a Marketing consultant, we were told to withhold all communication activities. Supporting them, we discussed cutting down the marketing activities to the bare minimum and also updated how the industry is moving ahead, with innovative approaches.
Even before PM Modi announcing Lockdown2.0, the management of the said SME was back into action, and planning to manufacture medical equipment components, especially supporting the Government with their list of essential equipment. We were consulted and back into action to understand the market potentiality of these new components, now and beyond COVID19.
In one of our webinar recently, Manish Kothari, an entrepreneur, the Mission Director of EMPRETEC, and a good friend of mine was interacting with the participants and commented that To Innovate one need to stop what they are doing currently! COVID19 and the Lockdown was an opportunity in despair, to come out of fear and uncertainties, not just in present, but of recent past also.
