Innovative Solutions for Bulk Material Handling in Thermal Power Plants
Founded in 2011, Rollcon Technofab India Pvt Ltd has steadily grown into a prominent player in the niche market of fuel and ash handling systems. This New Delhi-based company, with its headquarters in Dwarka and manufacturing units in Bahadurgarh and Faridabad, serves a critical role in the thermal power generation sector. Rajiv Dhawan, the Managing Director of Rollcon, shared the company’s inspiring journey, its innovative solutions, and how their presence at industry expos like the upcoming Boiler Expo is set to further elevate their standing in this specialized market.
Rajiv Dhawan, a mechanical engineer, gained extensive experience in the field of fuel and ash handling systems, having worked for over a decade in the industry before venturing into entrepreneurship. “I worked in a company that was into the same field, and after spending 10 years there, I decided it was time to strike out on my own,” he shared. His exposure to IT companies early in his career gave him insights into best practices that he later integrated into the more conventional, mechanically driven sector of fuel handling.
The decision to start Rollcon Technofab wasn’t a long-held dream but rather a result of his growing expertise and a recognition of inefficiencies in the traditional systems. “It wasn’t part of the initial plan. Coming from a middle-class family, I didn’t have aspirations to start a business. But after being promoted to a director role in my previous company, I saw an opportunity to bring innovation into the sector,” Mr Dhawan explained. His desire to merge IT sector advancements with conventional mechanical systems was a game-changer that led to the creation of Rollcon Technofab.
Rollcon specializes in providing bulk material handling systems, with 70% of its business focused on fuel and ash handling systems for the thermal power generation sector. The company offers an array of products such as belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and pneumatic ash handling systems. These solutions are designed to enhance operational efficiency and minimize downtime for power plants. “Our circuits are primarily designed for coal, biomass, and ash handling plants,” said Mr Dhawan, highlighting the company’s expertise in handling complex operations.
Looking ahead, Mr Dhawan is optimistic about Rollcon growth. “Participating in the Expo is not just about closing deals but also about sharing ideas and learning from others in the industry. Sometimes, these events spark innovation or collaboration that can transform the way we do business,” he said.
As Rollcon Technofab India steps onto the stage at Boiler Expo 2024, Rajiv and his team are not just showcasing their products—they are sharing a vision of innovation and sustainability in fuel and ash handling. From humble beginnings to a niche leader, Rollcon is poised for continued success, driven by a passion for solving industry problems and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
