Pioneering Quality and Innovation in Welding Solutions:
In 1990, after graduating, Subhash Patwardhan joined his family business, Sparkonix, along with his two cousins and a partner’s son. The company specialized in manufacturing Electric Discharge Machines. For the first two years, they worked under the guidance of their seniors. However, they soon realized that the generation gap was hindering their flexibility and innovation.
In 1994, the second generation decided to venture into the welding machine business, establishing Artech Welders. By 2000, two members went back to continue their work at Sparkonix, while Gautam and Subhash took the helm at Artech Welders. Even with the changes, all four remain directors at both companies
Mr. Patwardhan started the business with a focus on quality and innovation. He believes that as long as customers have faith in you, growth will follow. He added, “Your products can change, but your customer should not. When your customer grows with you, it ensures your continued success”. The strong interaction with customers makes it easy for them to understand customer needs and cater to the market accordingly. This approach allows them to develop continuously without facing significant problems.
The company which was previously limited to manufacturing manual stud welding machines added products such as CNC stud welding machines with auto-feeding in the last couple of years in response to growing customer needs. This automation has increased production volumes, reduced labor costs, and improved precision. “Innovation is at the heart of our strategy. Every year, we strive to introduce something new to stay ahead of the competition,” says Subhash Patwardhan. Artech’s leadership in Capacitor Discharge Welding Technologies comes from strategic partnerships with industry leaders like Lucas TVS and Hawkins, integrating advanced technologies into their products. This commitment to annual innovation helps Artech maintain its market position and play a proactive role in advancing welding technology.
Subhash Patwardhan includes an exciting news about Artech’s latest innovation – Electron beam welding technology developed in partnership with BARC. These advanced machines, usually imported, are vital for aerospace, nuclear, space, defense, and burgeoning EV industries. Artech has successfully created a prototype in-house and is currently conducting trials, poised to begin production soon. This milestone represents a significant stride towards self-reliance in India’s high-tech manufacturing landscape.
With a team boasting over 20 years of combined expertise, Artech excels at identifying and meeting the demands of its clients, providing customized solutions, and effectively resolving on-site issues. Their impressive 55% yearly repeat business highlights their commitment to customer satisfaction and technical expertise, solidifying their status as industry pioneers in the welding sector.
Artech Welders is well-positioned across India, covering key markets such as automotive, auto ancillaries, cookware, submersible pumps, and hollow metal doors. This diverse presence ensures they are not overly dependent on any single segment, allowing them to remain resilient even during economic downturns. Their strategy includes entering the export market, and they have already started selling machines in the UAE and the Middle East, focusing on the fire door industry. By selling machines for Galvanized fire doors in this region, Artech is expanding its reach and tapping into a new market. This move highlights their commitment to growth and adaptability in meeting diverse market needs.
In 2001, Artech Welders took a significant step onto the global stage by showcasing their machines at an exhibition in Germany, marking a pivotal moment for Indian manufacturing worldwide. The experience highlighted the necessity of CE marking for European exports, ensuring machine safety for operators and surroundings. This requirement prompted Artech to integrate CE standards universally across their machines, both for global and local markets, as Mr. Patwardhan emphasized, “What we sell globally is what we sell locally.” This alignment has not only boosted machine performance but also enhanced productivity, safety, ergonomics, and service convenience across their entire product range. To explore more about their product, Artech Welders are inviting you to look at their innovations at AMTEX 2024, Stall C63 in Hall 11.
