CNH Industrial, a global leader in agriculture and construction equipment, has launched a new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative titled ‘Sarovar Sanrakshan’ (pond conservation) at Sunpura, Greater Noida, near its tractor and engine manufacturing facility. The initiative aims to restore the historic Bhola Rawal Pond and transform it into a sustainable and vibrant community space.
Spanning 6.77 hectares, the Bhola Rawal Pond restoration project focuses on ecological rejuvenation and enhancing aquatic ecosystem functions. The initiative seeks to address environmental challenges such as foul odour and insect breeding, thereby improving public health and safety for surrounding communities. Through the integration of green infrastructure—including plantation drives, wetland systems, and solar-powered lighting—the project promotes long-term environmental sustainability.
A key feature of the program is its emphasis on community participation. CNH aims to establish a village-led water body management committee to ensure sustained upkeep and foster a sense of local ownership. This collaborative approach is designed to create a scalable model for integrated water resource management.
Commenting on the initiative, Ravi Kundra, Director Manufacturing (Agriculture), CNH India, said that ‘Sarovar Sanrakshan’ reflects the company’s commitment to responsible growth and sustainable community development. He highlighted the importance of water bodies as vital ecological assets that support biodiversity, enhance climate resilience, and directly impact livelihoods and public health. He added that the restoration project not only revives a heritage resource but also empowers communities to actively participate in its long-term preservation.
The initiative aligns with CNH’s global sustainability framework and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6.6, which focuses on protecting and restoring water-related ecosystems, and SDG 13 on climate action. The launch event was attended by members of CNH’s Noida plant leadership team and representatives from implementation partner ISAP India Foundation, reinforcing a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community wellbeing.
With a legacy spanning over two centuries, CNH Industrial continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and productivity across its global operations. Through initiatives like ‘Sarovar Sanrakshan,’ the company strengthens its role in creating meaningful environmental and social impact while contributing to a more sustainable future.
