Ultraviolette has entered into a strategic partnership with Bolt.Earth to accelerate the expansion of interoperable Type-6 DC fast-charging infrastructure across India. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s electric mobility ecosystem by enabling standardized, reliable charging solutions tailored specifically for light electric vehicles.
Type-6 is India’s officially recognized DC charging standard for two- and three-wheelers, published under IS 17017 (Part 2/Section 6) by the Bureau of Indian Standards. It has also received international recognition as IEC 62196-6, supporting its adoption beyond India. The standard is engineered for a broad category of light EVs, including scooters, motorcycles, e-rickshaws, delivery vehicles, and other small-format electric transport.
Ultraviolette’s vehicles are already designed around the Type-6 interface, ensuring compatibility with this expanding infrastructure without requiring hardware changes. The collaboration with Bolt.Earth focuses on increasing public access to this standardized charging network, helping address one of the key barriers to EV adoption—charging availability and convenience.
Initial deployments have already gone live across multiple states, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. Over the next two months, the network will scale up to 50 upgraded charging locations. Bolt.Earth, which operates one of the largest EV charging networks in India, is leveraging its infrastructure to support this rollout at scale.
The deployed charging systems deliver 3kW DC output, enabling efficient charging cycles. Ultraviolette’s X-47 and F77 models can charge from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 2.5 hours, and reach full charge in about 3.5 hours. The chargers incorporate multiple safety features such as voltage protection, short-circuit safeguards, earth detection, reverse polarity protection, and emergency shut-off mechanisms. Looking ahead, Bolt.Earth plans to introduce higher-capacity 6kW and 12kW Blaze DC chargers to support faster charging needs, particularly in urban centers and high-demand corridors.
Company leaders emphasized that interoperability will play a defining role in the next phase of EV growth. By aligning around a common standard, the partnership aims to improve rider confidence, reduce charging friction, and enable seamless long-distance travel.
Bolt.Earth has outlined an ambitious roadmap to deploy 2,000 fast chargers over the next 24 months. For Ultraviolette customers, this expansion is expected to significantly improve access to dependable charging, reduce waiting times, and support broader adoption of high-performance electric two-wheelers across the country.
