Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd has announced the completion of a major upgrade at Government ITI Deogiri, marking progress in its collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra to strengthen technical training infrastructure across the state.
The upgraded institute serves as part of a broader initiative aimed at modernising Industrial Training Institutes and expanding access to advanced technical education for youth, particularly in rural regions. Alongside the Deogiri institute, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has supported improvements across 16 government ITIs in the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions.
The programme focuses on equipping students with practical skills aligned with evolving industry requirements, particularly within the automotive and manufacturing sectors. The initiative is structured around three primary focus areas: faculty development, infrastructure enhancement, and culture-based learning.
Under the faculty development component, instructors participate in specialised Train-the-Trainer programmes conducted at Toyota’s Bidadi Manufacturing Facility. These sessions include knowledge-sharing workshops and technical skill training designed to strengthen teaching capabilities.
The infrastructure component includes the installation of industry-relevant equipment such as Fundamental Skill Training kits, dexterity modules, and visual learning tools. Workshops at participating institutes have also been upgraded to support practical training aligned with modern manufacturing practices.
The programme also promotes a culture of workplace discipline and safety through the adoption of 5S methodology, environmental awareness initiatives, and safety practices commonly used in global manufacturing environments. Implementation of the initiative is planned in three phases.
The first phase, completed during 2025–26, covered 17 ITIs in the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions. The second phase will expand the programme to institutes in the Amravati and Nashik regions between 2026 and 2028, followed by the third phase covering Mumbai and Pune divisions between 2029 and 2030.
Speaking at the event, Mangal Prabhat Lodha said strengthening skill development among young people is essential for building a self-reliant economy. Vikram Gulati noted that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to expanding access to technical training and preparing youth for future employment opportunities.
The programme also supports the objectives of the Skill India Mission, which focuses on strengthening vocational training institutions and preparing India’s workforce for emerging industrial opportunities. For over two decades, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has undertaken community-focused initiatives across education, environmental conservation, road safety, skill development, healthcare, hygiene, and disaster management.
