Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has strengthened its commitment to science and technology education with the launch of advanced STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Labs in government schools across Udaipur district. Implemented in partnership with the Society for All Round Development, the initiative introduces technology-enabled, experiential learning spaces aimed at enhancing conceptual understanding and practical skills among students.

The newly established STEM Labs at Bichchari Government School and Zinc Smelter Government School, Debari, are designed to promote hands-on learning, experimentation and problem-solving. The facilities will benefit students from nearby rural communities, providing access to modern tools and interactive modules that make scientific concepts more engaging and accessible.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key education and community representatives, including District Education Officer Lokesh Bharti, CBEO Kurrabad Meena Sharma, school principals, local elected representatives and senior leadership from Hindustan Zinc’s CSR and operations teams.

Arun Misra, CEO and Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc Limited, said the company views education as a catalyst for long-term social progress. He noted that the STEM Labs are intended to spark curiosity, strengthen analytical thinking and prepare students for future academic and career opportunities in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. By integrating experiential learning into classrooms, the initiative aims to nurture confidence and broaden aspirations among young learners in surrounding communities.

District Education Officer Lokesh Bharti highlighted that activity-based learning fosters scientific temperament and improves foundational understanding at an early stage. He added that such collaborations support the district’s objective of improving learning outcomes and building innovation-driven classrooms.

CBEO Meena Sharma observed that providing children with opportunities to explore and experiment helps build confidence and curiosity. She emphasized that access to structured STEM education in rural schools will encourage students to pursue higher studies and careers in science and technology.
