Wipro 3D Supplies Key Parts for ISRO’s New Rocket Engine Test

Wipro 3D, the additive manufacturing arm of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, has produced important metal parts used in the first hot-fire test of a high-thrust LOX-Methane rocket engine being developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for future launch vehicles.

The sub-scale thrust chamber assembly, which included components made by Wipro 3D, was tested on January 27, 2026. ISRO reported that the engine ignited successfully and maintained stable combustion during the trial, with all systems working as planned.

The parts were made using laser-based Powder Bed Fusion technology with copper alloys and nickel-based superalloys chosen to handle the extreme heat and pressure inside cryogenic rocket engines. Each component went through detailed material testing, inspection, and qualification to meet ISRO’s standards before being installed in the test setup.

Yathiraj Kasal, Business Head and General Manager of Wipro 3D, said the project shows the company’s ability to make complex components for space programmes. He added that years of close work with ISRO helped the team develop parts that perform under very high temperatures and pressure.

The project also highlights how additive manufacturing is helping speed up rocket engine development, shorten testing timelines, and create designs that are difficult to produce with traditional methods. It further shows Wipro 3D’s growing role in India’s space sector and its support for locally developed technology.

Founded in 2012, Wipro 3D provides additive manufacturing solutions for both prototypes and production parts in metals and polymers. The company has delivered certified components for industries such as space, aerospace, defence, nuclear, automotive, oil and gas, and energy. In addition to manufacturing, Wipro 3D offers design support, process development, testing assistance, and training services to help companies adopt additive manufacturing for industrial use.
