Indradev Babu to lead IMTMA as its new President

In its 73rd Annual General Meeting of India’s one of the most vibrant industry association, The Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) elected Indradev Babu, Managing Director of Bengaluru based UCAM India Private as its new President. He succeeds P Ramadas, Managing Director of Bangalore based Ace Manufacturing Systems Limited as IMTMA’s President.

The AGM was held at the IMTMA headquarters at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), where the new Executive Committee of IMTMA for the year 2019-2020 was formed. Ravi Raghavan, Managing Director of Bangalore based Bharat Fritz Werner Limited will be assisting Mr. Babu, who was elected as the new Vice President.

Mr. Babu was the Vice President in the previous term and is taking the anchor of IMTMA at a time where Indian Automobile sector, a major industry the Indian Machine Tool industry serves, is going through a tough time. On the AGM Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director of Volvo Group India Private Limited spoke about the current economic downturn as well as the opportunities in store for the auto sector.

“The slowdown that we see in the auto sector is cyclical and the industry should continue its efforts digitalization, innovation and providing solutions that are economically and environmentally viable”, he added. Elaborating further he said that industry should move from the earlier definition of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) towards a new definition of VUCA, i.e.  (Vision, Understanding, Clarity, and Agility).

The founder and Managing Director of UCAM, Mr. Babu comes with a vast history of working in the machinery industry. Skilled in Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Operations Management, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Engineering, and Business Process Improvement, he is a strong business development professional.

IMTMA, the apex body and single point of contact for the machine tool industry in India plays a crucial role in the growth and development of the metalworking industry. Formed in 1946, IMTAM has more than 450 members which represent the organized machine tool and allied equipment manufactures in the country.
