At Plastindia 2026, BASF is presenting how its advanced light stabilizer technologies help improve the durability and performance of plastics used across agriculture, energy and infrastructure applications. With India ranking among the world’s largest producers of agricultural output, plastic-based farming solutions have become increasingly important in improving crop yields, conserving water and protecting growing environments.
In agricultural applications, BASF’s Tinuvin® NOR® stabilizer platform is designed to enhance the performance of mulch and greenhouse films used in plasticulture. The technology offers high resistance to intense sunlight, heat and chemical exposure, enabling longer service life and reliable performance under demanding outdoor conditions. These properties help support more sustainable farming practices by reducing material replacement and waste.
The use of NOR-based solutions allows film manufacturers to achieve consistent processing, extended durability and compliance with organic farming requirements. As part of BASF’s VALERAS® portfolio, Tinuvin® solutions contribute to sustainability across the entire plastics value chain, from production to end use.
Visitors to Plastindia 2026 can view BASF’s agricultural film solutions at a live greenhouse installation located near Hall 5, developed in collaboration with Plastindia to demonstrate real-world applications.
Beyond agriculture, BASF is also showcasing Irgastab® Cable KV 10, a thermal stabilizer developed for medium- and high-voltage power cables. Designed for use in peroxide-crosslinked polyethylene insulation, the additive supports stable cable manufacturing by providing scorch protection, reducing thermal oxidation and enabling efficient cross-linking, helping manufacturers meet stringent safety and performance standards.
For renewable energy applications, Tinuvin® stabilizers are used to protect plastic floating pontoons deployed in solar installations. By shielding polypropylene from prolonged UV exposure and heat, the solution improves weather resistance and extends service life to more than three decades, while lowering long-term maintenance and replacement costs.
BASF is also highlighting Irgastab® IS 2515 P, a stabilizer solution for polymer-based storage tanks. Used in rotomolded applications, the additive delivers long-term UV protection of up to 20 years while improving processing efficiency and productivity, supporting manufacturers seeking durable and reliable tank solutions.
Commenting on BASF’s participation, Dr Achim Sties, Senior Vice President, Plastic Additives at BASF, said the company sees India as a key growth market and remains focused on working closely with customers and industry partners to deliver durable, high-performance and sustainable plastic additive solutions.
