ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited (CVCS) has received a major nomination from a leading Indian electric commercial vehicle manufacturer to engineer and calibrate an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite aligned to the upcoming GSR 184e safety regulations. The solution is already approved by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), confirming full compliance with the regulatory requirements coming into effect.

Designed with scalability at its core, the ADAS platform supports SAE Level 2 functionality and has the capability to evolve toward higher automation levels for international applications. It is also engineered to perform effectively under the diverse and challenging conditions of Indian road environments. The nomination covers several critical ADAS systems and components suited for coaches, heavy-duty trucks, and tractor-trailer platforms.

Akash Passey, Chairman (Non-Executive Director), ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited, stated “ZF Group is committed to advancing safety and sustainability through solutions designed for India’s ADAS regulatory landscape. Our technologies have been validated under actual operating conditions and are ready to support the country’s transition to enhanced safety and automation. We stand prepared with forward-looking systems that match the expectations of our OEM partners.”

Paramjit Singh Chadha, Managing Director, ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited, added
“Our ADAS portfolio is developed to improve safety, support fatigue reduction, and assist better vehicle operation. By making advanced safety technologies intuitive and accessible, we aim to empower drivers with improved confidence, comfort, and control. This nomination underscores our focus on meaningful innovation and safer transport ecosystems.”ZF’s ADAS solution has undergone extensive real-world validation, demonstrating consistent performance across varied driving conditions. With over 300,000 kilometers tested on Indian terrains and an additional 65,000 kilometers evaluated in collaboration with OEM partners, the system has been refined to withstand the demands of commercial mobility environments.

The technology fully adheres to India’s evolving regulatory framework and meets major certification benchmarks. It aligns with safety requirements for advanced emergency braking, driver fatigue monitoring, blind spot detection, pedestrian and cyclist recognition at vehicle start, and lane departure warnings as outlined under AIS-162, AIS-184, AIS-186, AIS-187, and AIS-188.

Equipped with OnGuardMAX and short-range radar technology, the platform delivers a robust suite of 16 advanced assistance features. These include critical capabilities such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, driver drowsiness alerts, lane departure warnings, and cyclist or pedestrian detection, contributing to enhanced operational safety and improved driving confidence.
