Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (HSCL), a leading global name in speciality chemicals and advanced carbon solutions, has completed its inaugural export of liquid coal tar pitch to customers in the Middle East. The shipment, executed through the company’s dedicated terminal at New Mangalore Port, represents a major step forward for both the organisation and India’s expanding role in the global carbon materials supply chain.

The dispatch comprised 3,600 tonnes of liquid coal tar pitch, highlighting Himadri’s capability to manage large-volume international consignments efficiently. While the company already operates a well-established terminal on the eastern coast at Haldia, this first movement from the western seaboard opens an additional export channel. The new route enhances Himadri’s ability to serve major industrial hubs—particularly across the Middle East and the Americas—by strengthening its logistical flexibility, port utilisation and delivery reliability.

Liquid coal tar pitch is an essential ingredient in aluminium smelters, graphite electrode manufacturing units, and other high-temperature industrial operations that demand consistent performance and high structural purity. Successfully completing this shipment demonstrates Himadri’s strong manufacturing base, technical know-how and alignment with the standards expected by global heavy industries.

Sharing his thoughts on the milestone, Anurag Choudhary, Chairman & Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said: “This first shipment from New Mangalore Port to the Middle East marks a pivotal moment for Himadri. It highlights our ability to deliver high-quality, large-scale exports with complete dependability and reinforces India’s growing importance in the international carbon materials sector. The confidence our global customers place in our products motivates us to keep raising the bar as we broaden our presence worldwide.”

Following this successful export, Himadri has outlined an aggressive expansion roadmap aimed at strengthening its position as a major global supplier of coal tar pitch. The company’s international strategy centres on the Middle East and the Americas, where rising aluminium production, infrastructure activity and energy-intensive industries continue to drive demand for advanced carbon materials.

Key focus areas include increasing production capacity, developing multiple export corridors, optimising port operations and intensifying market outreach across priority regions. By combining advanced integrated manufacturing, technical expertise and sustainable production systems, Himadri intends to position itself as a long-term, trusted partner to global industries.

The completion of this milestone shipment further cements Himadri’s reputation as a reliable, technology-driven producer of speciality carbon materials, committed to operational excellence, sustainability and world-class quality.
