Burghardt & Schmidt GmbH has received an order to design and install a state-of-the-art Stretch-Bend-Leveling (SBL) line for Eagle Metals, located in Leesport, Pennsylvania. The new line will be equipped to handle a broad range of specialty alloys, including bronze, copper, nickel, and stainless steel, produced at Eagle’s facility.
The system is engineered to correct shape irregularities from Eagle’s Cold Mill operations and will feature a Level 1 automation platform for seamless integration with the company’s existing production network. Real-time monitoring and analysis will be enabled through an iba data recording system. The installation will also include a high-precision shape meter roll from b+s automation, which allows for closed-loop flatness correction with minimal operator intervention.
In addition, the line incorporates a patented hands-free threading mechanism designed to enhance coil processing efficiency and eliminate the need for stitching or welding during production. Capable of handling material thinner than 0.001 inches, this will be the first SBL system of its kind to operate in North America.
