Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), the flagship company of the Adani Group, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from National Highways Logistics Management Ltd. (NHLML) to construct the ropeway connecting Sonprayag with Kedarnath. The project will be executed by AEL’s Roads, Metro, Rail, and Water (RMRW) division.
The 12.9 km ropeway will transform the pilgrimage to Kedarnath by cutting travel time from a 9-hour trek to just 36 minutes. With the capacity to carry 1,800 passengers per hour in each direction, it will serve lakhs of pilgrims annually. Kedarnath draws nearly 20 lakh pilgrims every year, underscoring the importance of this project.
Developed under the National Ropeways Development Programme – Parvatmala Pariyojana, the project will follow a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Construction will take six years, and AEL will operate the ropeway for 29 years after completion. In addition to easing connectivity, the project is expected to create jobs and boost tourism in Uttarakhand.

Adani Enterprises, over the years, has developed and incubated several large-scale infrastructure businesses, including Adani Ports & SEZ, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Power, Adani Green Energy, Adani Total Gas, and Adani Wilmar. Its current strategic focus includes green hydrogen, airports, data centers, roads, copper, and petrochemicals.
The company entered the roads and highways sector in 2018 and has since built a portfolio of 14 projects under HAM, BOT, and TOT models, spanning over 5,000 lane kilometers. With this project, AEL strengthens its presence in building critical infrastructure aligned with national priorities.
