RRP Electronics Ltd, a prominent player in the semiconductor sector supported by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has been allotted 100 acres of land in Navi Mumbai. The allotment was formalized as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented a Letter of Comfort to the company, facilitating the relocation of a semiconductor fabrication facility from one of the world’s leading companies based in Sherman, Texas.
Commenting on the development, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “This allotment firmly positions Maharashtra at the center of India’s Semiconductor Mission roadmap. Our government is committed to providing all necessary support—be it infrastructure, policy facilitation, or skill development—to ensure the success of this initiative. The establishment of this facility will accelerate industrial growth, create employment opportunities, strengthen local supply chains, and reinforce Maharashtra’s leadership in high-technology manufacturing.”
Rajendra Chodankar, Chairman of RRP Electronics Ltd, expressed gratitude toward the state government, stating, “We are thankful to the Government of Maharashtra and Honourable Chief Minister for their continued support in enabling pioneering initiatives for the semiconductor ecosystem. This acquisition marks a landmark step in our journey toward making India self-reliant in semiconductor production.”
This development comes a year after Maharashtra launched its first OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai. With this new site, RRP Electronics is set to become one of the region’s largest and most advanced semiconductor fabrication centers, with the capacity to produce 1.25 lakh wafers per month. These milestones further strengthen Maharashtra’s and India’s position in the global semiconductor value chain.
