L&T Semiconductors has entered into a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to develop India’s first National 2D Innovation Hub, aiming to create a world-class facility dedicated to next-generation semiconductor research beyond traditional silicon chip technologies.Professor Mayank Shrivastava from IISc Bangalore commented, “The National 2D Innovation Hub demonstrates India’s scientific leadership and collaborative strengths, accelerating the country’s path toward innovation in 2D electronics and quantum technologies.”
2D materials, which are extremely thin yet remarkably strong and conductive, have the potential to replace silicon in semiconductor manufacturing, enabling chips up to ten times smaller than current production limits.
