CADFEM India Pvt Ltd, an Elite Channel Partner of Ansys (now part of Synopsys), has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) to set up one of India’s most advanced Digital Twin Simulation Laboratories. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening the country’s digital engineering education and research by combining cutting-edge multiphysics simulation technologies with deep domain expertise.
As part of the agreement, IIT Roorkee will gain access to advanced tools for Digital Twin modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Method (FEM), and Electromagnetic simulations. The initiative also includes software licenses, faculty and student workshops, technical training, and ongoing research support. Together, these resources will help address real-world engineering challenges and enhance skill development in emerging technologies.
“We are delighted to partner with IIT Roorkee, a premier institution known for its academic and research excellence. This initiative reflects our vision of making engineering simulation accessible across India’s campuses and creating future-ready academic ecosystems that connect education with industry,” said Madhukar Chatiri, CEO, CADFEM APAC.
The collaboration will involve joint lectures, workshops, publications, and outreach programs aimed at advancing the use of Digital Twin and multiphysics simulation. Faculty and students will also co-author research in areas such as sustainable systems, intelligent infrastructure, and AI-enabled product design.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Prof Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, said:
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to strengthening India’s academic and research ecosystem. By embedding advanced simulation workflows into our teaching and research, we are preparing a new generation of engineers who are both innovation-driven and industry-ready.”
Beyond IIT Roorkee, the lab is envisioned as a model for future collaborations with other leading academic institutions across the country. By accelerating the adoption of Digital Twin technologies in academia, the partnership sets a benchmark for bridging education and industry, while equipping students and researchers to contribute meaningfully to India’s digital future.
