Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading public sector engineering and manufacturing company, has signed a Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology (LAToT) with the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, a premier laboratory under DRDO.CThe agreement covers the transfer of technology for the manufacture of Fused Silica Radar Domes using the advanced Cold Isostatic Pressing and Sintering Route.
Radar domes, also known as radomes, are critical components for the protection of radar systems from environmental factors while ensuring seamless transmission of signals. This indigenous technology is a strategic advancement towards enhancing self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Government of India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
By leveraging this collaboration, BHEL will establish capabilities for manufacturing high-performance fused silica radomes within the country, reducing import dependency and supporting India’s defence preparedness. The agreement also reinforces the long-standing partnership between BHEL and DRDO laboratories in developing and deploying advanced technologies for strategic applications.
