boAt has announced a partnership with Indian semiconductor startup HrdWyr to launch an indigenously designed chip that will be featured in the brand’s upcoming premium True Wireless Stereo (TWS) charging cases, expected early next year.
The chip, named Indus 1011, has been fully designed in India by HrdWyr, with assembly, packaging, and testing supported by Tata Electronics. This collaboration ensures that every stage—from design and IP development to final packaging—has been executed within India.
According to the announcement, this new chip introduces advanced battery management features tailored for wearable devices and represents a major step forward in India’s capability to develop high-volume semiconductor products. The project highlights the country’s growing expertise across the semiconductor value chain.
boAt’s move marks a transition from working solely with global chipset leaders to now embracing domestic technology partners. This partnership reflects boAt’s commitment to building deeper technology capabilities within India and supporting local innovation.
As part of the collaboration, boAt brought market insights and user feedback, which HrdWyr then used to create customized, low-power, high-efficiency solutions, developing new IP suited for wearable audio devices.
Sameer Mehta, Co-founder and CEO of boAt, said, “We’ve always supported the Make in India initiative. By being among the first to work with a homegrown chip design company, we’re proving that real product innovation can start right here in India—at the silicon level.”
Ramamurthy Sivakumar, Co-founder and CEO of HrdWyr, emphasized that semiconductors and AI are vital to modern economies. He noted, “Building self-reliance in semiconductor design and production is essential for countries like India. This milestone demonstrates that India is capable of delivering innovation in the most complex areas of technology. Our work with boAt and Tata Electronics shows that India is ready to scale in the global semiconductor space.”
This launch is seen as a key achievement in strengthening India’s position in the semiconductor industry, supporting the national drive to build a complete, self-sustained electronics and hardware ecosystem. boAt Lifestyle is one of India’s fastest-growing consumer electronics brands, known for its stylish and affordable range of audio products, smart wearables, and mobile accessories.
