Jakson Engineers announced on Tuesday that it will invest more than ₹8,000 crore to establish a 6 GW integrated solar manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh. This investment marks the largest solar manufacturing initiative in the state, according to the company. The plant, located at Maksi Phase II, will produce solar modules, cells, and wafers, forming part of an ambitious project by the energy and infrastructure conglomerate, Jakson Group.

The development will take place in two phases across a 110-acre site recently allocated to the company. Phase I will see the establishment of 3 GW capacity for solar modules and 3 GW for solar cells, with an investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore. The second phase will involve setting up a 6 GW solar wafer plant, along with an additional 3 GW each for solar modules and cells, requiring an investment of over ₹6,000 crore. The plant is expected to roll out its first solar modules by May 2026, followed by the cells in September 2026.

Sundeep Gupta, Vice Chairman of Jakson Group, called the initiative a significant milestone for both the company and India’s renewable energy sector. Gagan Chanana, Joint Managing Director and CEO of Jakson Solar Modules and Cells, emphasized the strategic value of the plant, noting that the fully integrated facility will support the country’s energy needs and enhance India’s position as a global leader in solar energy. The company’s unique “four-in-one” business model—which encompasses manufacturing, development, EPC, and O&M services—will help drive quality, cost efficiency, and the rapid deployment of new technologies.

Madhya Pradesh was chosen for its central location, robust infrastructure, and progressive renewable energy policies, making it an ideal site for the project. The new facility will not only contribute to India’s energy security but also provide significant socio-economic benefits to the region. The construction phase will create over 1,000 jobs, and once operational, the plant will employ around 1,400 people.

Founded in 1947, Jakson Group has expanded its expertise from diesel generator manufacturing to becoming a leading provider of multi-faceted energy solutions. With a broad network of manufacturing facilities, sales offices, and international locations, Jakson continues to play a vital role in India’s energy landscape.
