Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Saturday inaugurated new manufacturing facilities at the Toshiba Transmission and Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) plant in Rudraram, Sangareddy district. The additions include a Cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) Core Processing Centre and a Surge Arrester Production Line. The Minister also laid the foundation stone for the expansion of TTDI’s power transformer manufacturing line.
The CRGO Core Processing Centre has an annual processing capacity of 12,000 metric tonnes of CRGO steel, while the Surge Arrester Production Line is designed to produce 80,000 units per year. Once completed, the Extra High Voltage (EHV) power transformer expansion project will increase TTDI’s total power transformer manufacturing capacity from 30,000 MVA to 42,000 MVA per annum. These upgrades will strengthen TTDI’s ability to meet rising domestic and international demand.
The new facilities form part of a ₹562 crore investment plan aimed at expanding the company’s production capabilities. Speaking at the event, Sridhar Babu said the Telangana government is working to position the state as a global manufacturing hub.
Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI, stated that the investment will enhance Toshiba’s manufacturing footprint in India, create employment opportunities, improve operational efficiency, and support the delivery of sustainable energy solutions for both Indian and global markets.
