Sigachi Industries Limited, a major Indian manufacturer of pharmaceutical excipients, active ingredients, and specialty compounds, has started civil work for a new 12,000 metric ton per annum (MTPA) Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) production unit at its Dahej SEZ facility in Gujarat.
This development is part of a broader capacity expansion plan and is aimed at increasing supply reliability for international and domestic clients. The project includes advanced safety systems and process equipment sourced in collaboration with established technology and safety consultants. Commissioning is expected within nine months.
Managing Director & CEO, Amit Raj Sinha, stated “The incident at Pashamylaram was a serious setback. This expansion at Dahej reflects necessary adjustments in our infrastructure and processes to prevent future issues. The focus is not only on increasing output but also on integrating safer, more robust systems across all sites.”
Sigachi has acknowledged support from customers in over 65 countries, many of whom have expressed their backing in the aftermath of the Pashamylaram event. The company also thanked suppliers, equipment partners, and consultants who are contributing to the design and execution of the new plant.
