India’s engineering and technology sectors are witnessing fast-paced growth, powered by a focus on building homegrown capabilities. With a rich talent base, strong academic institutions, and a growing culture of innovation, the country is well-positioned to lead in advanced engineering. As industries face increasing technical challenges, the need for applied research and scalable solutions has never been greater. Stronger links between educational institutions and companies can play a vital role in shaping future-ready professionals and advancing national progress. In line with this vision, Rolls-Royce has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to promote knowledge-sharing and skill-building. The collaboration will also explore joint research initiatives in key areas of interest. As part of the agreement, selected students from IIT Bombay will take up internships with the Rolls-Royce defence engineering team in Bengaluru.
The MoU was formalised by Prof. Sachin C. Patwardhan, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay, and G S Selwyn, Executive Vice President of Rolls-Royce India, in the presence of Mr. Alex Zino, Director of Business Development and Future Programmes, UK and International, along with senior officials from both organisations.
G S Selwyn Executive Vice President, Rolls-Royce India, said commented, “Our work with IIT Bombay reflects our focus on building long-term partnerships that foster innovation, skill enhancement, and technological progress. As we continue to expand our footprint in India, such collaborations open doors to shared learning and the co-creation of advanced solutions. We value the opportunity to work closely with IIT Bombay’s faculty and students in this endeavour.”
