Endress+Hauser has acquired full ownership of CodeWrights GmbH, a software company based in Karlsruhe, Germany. With this move, the Swiss-based measurement and automation specialist has purchased the remaining 33% stake from former co-owner Pepperl+Fuchs, a manufacturer of sensors and electronic components. The transaction took effect on July 1, 2025. Endress+Hauser had previously held a two-thirds stake since the company’s founding in 2002.
Established as a joint venture, CodeWrights currently employs around 50 professionals and delivers tailored software solutions for companies in the measurement and automation industries. These include mobile applications, cloud-based tools, automation platforms, and embedded software. The company’s strong focus on customized development has played a key role in its consistent growth and reputation for reliability.
“We are pleased to now fully integrate CodeWrights into the Endress+Hauser Group. We also extend our gratitude to Pepperl+Fuchs for a successful and cooperative partnership over the last two decades,” said Dr Rolf Birkhofer, Managing Director of Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions. “We have great confidence in the team’s skills and in the company’s business approach. Together, we aim to continue building on this success.”
Lutz Liebers, Chief Operating Officer for Process Automation at Pepperl+Fuchs, reflected on the collaboration, saying, “Our long-standing partnership was built on mutual respect and shared goals. We are confident that CodeWrights will continue to thrive under the full ownership of Endress+Hauser and further its strategic development.”
Commenting on the transition, Thomas Debes, Managing Director of CodeWrights GmbH, stated, “This change brings a more defined ownership structure and enhances our ability to make swift, strategic decisions. It also opens new opportunities for collaboration and growth.”
He reassured customers and partners that the acquisition would not disrupt ongoing operations. “CodeWrights will continue to deliver the same level of service and maintain its current solution offerings. Teams at both CodeWrights and Endress+Hauser will experience continuity in their roles and ongoing projects.”
